August 13, 20205 yr The possibilities are endless really, attach an Avatar to the Drone Camera and meet up with your mates at the airport before you run off to your own planes for a fly about. Then all met up again at a new destination, maybe even meet random strangers at airports and have a chat. They must have used photo references for the hand crafting, so I wouldn't have expected a tree. Nor is it that close to the runway (it's clearly behind the fence). STOP PRESS: In the "Planes and Airports Trailer", the 1 or 2 second clip of the airport (at 1:50) seems to show that tree now sitting well back from the strip and behind the fence. So this may have been fixed in a different build to the press release build that was given to content creators. Edited August 13, 20205 yr by Bottle
August 13, 20205 yr This is really exciting to see. Its very nice one can discover the whole earth this way. On the other hand, in 15 or 20 years, the Flight Simulators might look this way and many will say how we could get used to FS and its simple primitive buildings and objects: YouTube Ironically this is running on a 1080Ti.
August 13, 20205 yr To me, this highlights the expanded potential of what Asobo has developed. Imagine what other simulations/games can be developed using this technology. Open world racing. Battle royale action in real cities. It would stray far from the flight sim origins, but this technology has huge potential for the next decade beyond just FS2020.

The real dream is MFS updated to DX12 with ray tracing and using the Unreal 5 engine (or at least their technology) for objects. "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants." I stand corrected, does the game technology not belong to Asobo, as they developed the game? Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

I’m sure different parts of the technology belong to the individual entities involved in creating FS2020. The core code from FSX that was used as the foundation I guess belongs to Microsoft, Asobo has some propriety elements, and so do the partners like Metroblue and Blackshark. Regardless of who owns what, the overall package has potential beyond just FS.

August 13, 20205 yr This video breaks new ground, for sure, and I am delighted beyond words to see this. I (and others) have posted a few times on the general topic of using the incredible worldwide data base of MSFS for purposes beyond flying per se (e.g. boating, driving, etc.), and I have suggested it can be a "hiking simulator". I am planning a hike from the Everest base camp up to the summit, without oxygen or Sherpa guides, and am counting on the camera to get me across the Khumbu ice field with no difficulty. Best part, this will cost me tens of thousands of bucks less than the real thing! But first I plan on just walking around my neighborhood and exploring some back yards of my neighbors where I have never been invited. (I will not be looking in their windows, however). Endless possibilities, indeed.
