Hi folks,

My intention is not to open a thread controversy.
I loved P3D from the start, and I am so grateful to LM for taking over FSX and making it what P3Dv5 is today. A superb flight simulator.
But there.
I've been using MSFS in alpha then beta for 7 months. My feelings at the beginning were very mixed. Beautiful graphically but too buggy, the planes were barely usable 10 minutes, I looked at the landscape ... then I returned to P3D to "fly".
Device allocation was a nightmare and I wasn't using the full potential of the cameras that MSFS offers.
In addition, I had disabled all navigation and piloting aids, did not use ATC nor ground services.

In fact, I flew very little and preferred to report bugs.

Then there was the beta version, much more successful, and shortly after the first videos showing the enormous potential of MSFS.
And that's where I got really interested in it, abandoning P3D more and more, despite all the affection I have for FS Labs Bus, A2A, PMDG and all the wonderful addons (called "freewares" for my wife) that I have accumulated over the years.
And I finally really "discovered" MSFS two weeks ago, putting the wheels of my Cub in the middle of the Burmese jungle, out of gas, in the pouring rain and an infernal crosswind.
The sky was threatening and once the plane landed I realized that I was sweating for good!
The weather environment is extraordinary.
Flight modeling is incredibly different from all hobby simulators. We feel the controls, we feel the jolts, we correct the deviation due to the wind, we feel the drop in lift just after the flare, it's magic.

I started my career on the B727, I loved this plane so much...! We even had drafts in the flight deck so I was piloting in mittens!
But who would want such a plane today?
And who would claim that the avionics, the aerodynamics, the ecological impact, the profitability of these aircraft were better yesterday than today?
I believed for a long time that P3D would survive next to MSFS, that one was a "serious" simulator and the other a beautiful game that would take a long time to become exciting.
But it's over. I know that even the most recalcitrant among us will migrate much sooner than they think to MSFS, because the future is here and it is bright.
Having said that I am not ready to remove P3D from my PC because I am still happy to fly on my liners, but I know it will come soon enough.
🙂

As good as it is, MSFS will not replace P3D for everyone.  There are still things P3D does better.

I'm waiting for P3Dv6. 😄

Users can disclose that they have been beta testers....? (that nda got lifted)😉

I have already uninstalled P3D but may install it with all the major heavies I own; along with global+openLC, activesky - that is it.  No shaders garbage, even no mesh - gonna save GBs, no other tweaks, and only FSDT airports + Orbx airports (as all is outside the sim root).

I hear Lulka airport in MSFS2020 is epic.  I can't say if I have seen it or not 😉

We've seen it in a video where a guy walks around "on foot" in it and it is indeed epic.

As far as I know there was no restriction on telling people you were in the Beta program.

Honestly, I am kinda done with P3D, before even MSFS came along, I was already abounding P3D in favor of XP11. When I tried P3Dv5, although it was an improvement, but really it was never stable enough on my machine and therefore I just deleted it and I kept XP11 as my main sim due to my personal liking, even for airliners (Toliss, IniBuilds A300, FlightFactor, Ixeg and zibo).

I am so looking to MSFS and I am pretty sure it will be to go sim for normal simmers like us that can bring the best and let's us enjoy.

I am in the Beta....this is where the party is at and will be (party on dudes).  You just can not beat the mindblowing awesome graphics.  And I am using it with i7-5820K with 2070 Super RTX lol.   I doubt third party will install into the sim as constant updates gets pushed to the sim by the apps (windows store/steam)

But P3D will move into smaller SSD now and FSX is only for 1 plane (has 3 jet engines...can you guess - it is a heavy) that has the smallest ssd in my system.

I just do not know what to do with few Xplane addons that I have.  Works fine in VR for Pilotedge.  It is literally Pilotedge setup sim for me.

Disruptive Times in flightsim world.  I feel like we are in the wild wild west days...reminds me when FS2004 came (those days it was sure was super wild)

Many of us have seen MSFS Lukla, it was on a vid released in the last couple of days.

The Aerosoft/Limesim Lukla in P3D was epic, too.

It will be interesting to compare the two, as given the relationship between Asobo and Aerosoft, I suspect the MSFS Lukla shares some DNA with the Aerosoft/Limesim Lukla.  That or they're both just that good, of course they will look alike.

At nearly 72 I most certainly caught the cleverness of the title. I loved the Everly Brothers music.
