I almost hate to ask, but I'm seriously interested in knowing...could you elaborate a little with some specifics as to what exactly improved with the ATC as compared to the FSX version?

Well most glaringly it doesn't seem to constantly vector you on approach like you are tacking in a sailboat when flying IFR...

well that's good at least...no more zig zag patterns. Anything else...does anyone know about the dreaded "vectoring into mountains" thingy?

One other things I'm curious to know is...any option to allow us to choose a shorter final approach vector that doesn't yield a 20nm final?

Let us get back to you after next Tuesday...  I can see already the options have been improved especially ground operations, new voices, SID/STAR routing based on your submitted flight plan, etc.

Not getting upset per say it's just there's been discussions about how bad default ATC is.  I know there's an option to opt out of Multi-Player mode.  My point is I hope Asobo keeps developing default ATC/AI as Multi-Player has it's pluses and minuses in some areas.  People here are touting third party ATC which unless it works with default AI is a problem.  Knowing that Asobo reads these forums it's good to put a word out about frustration with those of us who are purist (if that's the word to use) and those that are crash and burn gamers.  By all means have fun on all ends and have the options out there to do so but this thing is so good some of us would want to use it on a more serious level.  Developing the default ATC/AI engine goes along way in achieving that.

IIMA , What ATC and sim are you using now,

I think there has been enough complaints about the ATC that asobo understands.. and its important that its improved.. but for example.. the RC that came out yesterday is having an issue for some, when  the controller you use for the camera/drone system disconnects it will cause a several second freeze, or even total ctd... stuff like that is going to get addressed first because CTDs are always a high level issue. and because ATC is an implementation issue.. it requires a rethink to fix so it will take longer. Whoever was in charge of ATC thought it was good as is..  They made a whole video about it... its not but they thought that.   where as whoever is in charge of the camera system didnt realize the issue was there

The ATC will be like other little things that IMHO are way better than what is in  current sims but still can use improving.  They wont ever go.. well some people are fine with the ATC, so lets ignore the people that are not.. its always going to be about priority which is more about this size of the fire, not about how excited the person calling the fire department is.

It does the same stuff as FSX except it does SIDS/STARS, IAPs, etc.

I've never had any desire to use the big online ATC networks.  But next week, I think I’m going to join VATSIM and sit in a GA parking spot at a busy airport and laugh my word not allowed off.  It’s going to be gamer kiddies vs the overly serious pretend pilot brigade.  It’ll be mayhem!  And at the end, I hope, both groups will learn some things.

Why the animosity for people who use simulators for... simulation?

For all the complaining about the ATC, it's still better than FSX/P3D.

Can you elaborate?

No 60-degree heading changes and back every 5 minutes? That's an improvement.

I don't think any AI could much real human interaction. Default ATC is good enough for offline flying. For those who wants better experience with there is only ATC there VATSIN, Pilot  Edge and so on. XP11 has very bad AI ATC yet nobody cares or used it

I do think it is possible they will improve the ATC realism down the road with varying accents depending on where you are flying and voice recognition to respond to ATC, But this is a complete guess based off what their architecture seems to be able to manage as well as the required permissions it needs in order to install the game. It would be nice to have occasional errors and thus corrections or stepping on the frequency that is random and infrequent, but that is probably too much to expect (at least in the short term).

I had a look at the Vatsim website the other day but couldn't find an answer to my question. Do you have to own a microphone to be able to use Vatsim?

May all your landings be safe ones!

Nope! As Pee Wee Herman would tell you: Just Scream Real Loud!!!

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.
