Oh that makes sense. Thought there was some mfs2020 prelaunch sale or something.

Dumb question, prompted by what I'm reading here about people setting up a GamePass account to get around the "insert disc" prompt:

Is a GamePass account required to run this sim?  If I have a Microsoft account and have set up an XBox Gamertag, is that enough, or do I need a GamePass subscription as well?

I bought on Steam, and there was no mention of any other prerequisites.

Not directly related to MSFS, but I just thought I should post this picture of when I returned home yesterday. Can you imagine my surprise seeing my old Kiribatian friends Sethos, Chock, Carts and Andreas arriving on the same flight! Here they are in the picture.

I was great to see them as we share similar interests such as going to the beach, eating seafood and coconuts, and downloading things from our (local) internet.

Well, my Kiribatian friends and colleagues: E onrake au kaibuke n te rabono!

That’s me on the left wearing my favourite shirt, was great to see you again Oz.

For those of you who want to fly to our beautiful islands to see the coral atolls, you'll be looking for Cassidy International Airport (PLCH). The runway (08/26) is 6,900 feet long, so you can bring your shiny new A320 there if you like.

I don't understand the mentality of gatekeeping people's excitement either, coming into threads telling people to be patient when they can access something they've been waiting for right now, of course simmers will be joining in. Fine you don't want to partake but let people enjoy the moment, if they hit any problems, that's on them and not you.

Okay then your choice. I gather from another thread that some are having issues with the sim demanding a disc, despite digital download. Hopefully its not due to region changing. Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

No offence was intended. Just offering some advice gleened after 62 years.

Correct, why I said you are all entitled to do what you like. Good luck. 🙂

Just try. If you get the disc prompt just go for a xbox gamer sub. It gets connected to your ms account.

Yeah but the point is, aren't we paying for a monthly subscription fee every month going forward to keep the sim in a usable state?

You cancel the subscription after the official release date. If you still get that error you ask MSFS support

No, the xbox sub is just a bandaid for us Kiribatians untill midnight EST. If you purchased the game, it is yours to play, updates and all, without any sub going forward.

You got discounts on their products if you purchased them previously for either P3D or X-Plane I believe.

Either that, or the taxes and prices are a lot less here in Kiribati, Currently the going rate for a Seven Series BMW here on the main island, is fourteen coconuts and donkey.

I have a feeling the disc error is due to region changing after the installer was put on the computer...Maybe not happening to everyone but any issues going with install when you put the installer on your computer and then changed region is likely to be the issue. just my .02
