August 19, 20205 yr Nice write up! I wouldn't lie, at the beginning it felt weird to me as I am used to P3D and XP but then, I took my time to get myself familiar, learning curve and then wow. I went back to fly in XP just to see how I am going to perceive it and I must say, I am extremely happy to have MSFS. Sure XP/P3D will Co exist due to the lack of in depth system addones but I am 100%, this will change in the coming months and more people will start to embrace it better. August 19, 20205 yr I totally agree with the OP. So my dealings with MSFS yesterday started with assigning controllers, I was amazed that some of the Saitek panels are not detected but the throttle quadrant is, but hey ho that will be eventually sorted out. The rest of the afternoon was spent messing round with cameras and generally getting used to the diffferent UI, not to mention the settings. A quick fly by of my house and surrounding area then followed by an amazing group multiplayer flight which was not really planned. We were flying at TLPL and we started with doing flybys in the TBM and I have never experienced such fun in a long time especially with the multiplayer aspect. I had seen this on streams by Chewwy and others over the last few days, and thought to try it out. I actually moved back in my seat when the flyby was extremely close and the sound coning was brilliant. 😍 So my point is, yes there are some aspects of this sim that need to be ironed out but there are flashes of brilliance oozing out. If you are part of the throwaway generation, then maybe leave the sim for a while and come back in 6 months maybe and I mean that with the utmost of respect, but this is not GTA or Battlefield 5. It is easy to find faults with things and compare apples with pears, it is how some people are wired up. Yes there are major and some non major issues with the release, I am not denying it Out of the box, you cannot deny it is fairly impressive, I hope P3D evolves in similar fashion and I am sure it will. There are some excellent troubleshooters amongst the forums that will find ways of improving the experience, so hang in there folks. It has never been a better time to be in this hobby 😉 and I own all three sims, so show not allegiance to any particular platform FS PC - AMD7900X3D / MSI RTX 4090 24gb / 32gb Ram / Varjo Aero / Bravo Quadrant / Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog / Yoke / TPR Pedals UK Skytours - http://www.ukskytours.co.uk
August 19, 20205 yr Agree with the OP. I was having a blast flying in the new sim since yesterday feeling like a child at christmas. Then I was coming to avsim and thought 95 % of the posters here must live in a different world than me. Sure there are lots of issues and lacking features. Nevertheless MSFS is more than enjoyable if you just focus on what it already has and not on what it still lacks.
August 19, 20205 yr Commercial Member I love it for VFR flying in GA aircraft. Not so much for airline flying, but I'm certain that day will come. For now I have the best of both worlds, MSFS2020 for GA and Prepar3D for airlines. With ongoing Asobo development work, RTX 3080 and Zen 3 not so far away, and not to mention P3D V5.1 at some point, I'd say it's a pretty good time to participate in this world. August 19, 20205 yr Thanks for that post @HighTowers. I totally agree. I understand the disillusionment and frustration some of us feel (I was there myself two months ago), but I think sometimes it’s good to step back for a moment and look at it from the distance. On the whole, I think it is remarkable what this sim has to offer, even in its present state. I‘ve experienced some incredible moments in this sim I hadn’t experienced in any other sim before - some of the best in my simming life. And it can only get better. For now I appreciate what‘s there and don‘t focus so much on what‘s missing and I‘m really enjoying it. August 19, 20205 yr MS made a MSFS 4K ULTRA HD sim in the marketing adds and are still doing it, the latest game pass adds are saying that, will be interesting what they say when the new XBOX consoles are released This was the sim you just load and fly no editing or setting up needed like other sims. August 19, 20205 yr The mind boggles. People bag this and defend the old clunkers that are P3D and X-Plane. I'm with you mate I'm loving the new sim and enjoy exploring it. Running i5-9600K @ 4.8ghz - 32GB DDR4 3200mhz - GTX 3070.
August 19, 20205 yr I am still excited after around 3 hours in the C152. Setting up game, graphics, a lot of controllers worked very easy and fast. Flying around i still do not believe what i see. This is so far in front of what we have had until yesterday in other sims. U N B E L I E V A B L E! There are bugs, there are concepts working different from what many people are used to (controller setting via looking glass), camera handling is different but i dont need a Chaseplane anymore... TrackIR worked perfect from the first start. THIS is the net platform i was hoping for and more!! They delivered more than i expected. August 19, 20205 yr I think there is another aspect for this "early" release. Imagine, they'd released it in December or January and we have onyl Summer texures available ... Anyway, I like it as it is, though there are several issues and settings which should be impoved. August 19, 20205 yr Personally I won't get to experience it for another few months (new rig required) but for someone who was used to the vanilla version of FSX with few addons its been mind-blowing for me watching all the various videos, it's just another whole new level of immersion and its surpassed expectations. Imagine this in 12 months time when they work through the main gripes.. Edited August 19, 20205 yr by AllRed

Please name one aircraft in "any" simulation thats is proper. The word "proper" is subjective. If I had to name one it would be the FSLABS but is it really "proper" as the FSLABS does not simulate your seat moving so I guess that isn't either. Apologies if this sounds tongue in cheek, but I do not get the word proper and don't get me started on the word "entitled" 😏 FS PC - AMD7900X3D / MSI RTX 4090 24gb / 32gb Ram / Varjo Aero / Bravo Quadrant / Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog / Yoke / TPR Pedals UK Skytours - http://www.ukskytours.co.uk

Then your expectations do not fit to how the market works. There are platform "sims" (See DCS, P3D), there are hi fidelity aircraft addons (see PMDG, FSlabs). The platform never competes with hi-fi addons. So simple. August 19, 20205 yr Just let me know if you can get something close to this picture in stock P3D or XP Now, I will not use MSFS for Normal airliners operation, that is what I stll have P3D V5HF2 for, with all of the addons. August 19, 20205 yr This is so typical of every other amazing release. Drama, doom and gloom for the first few days/weeks and then....'oh, this is really amazing.......' Basically, people just don't like change that much. You gotta love the flightsim crowd. Edited August 19, 20205 yr by ErichB
