In the original post there are people saying that this causes problems with floating trees. Basically the length of the tree is centered around the middle of it, and by reducing the height you also pull the bottom of the tree up - making it appear to be floating.

Have you seen this problem?

I have seen a little bit of floating trees with no adjustments applied. I will apply some parameter adjustments later and take a closer look.

Trees seem to be solidly rooted after height adjustments: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iccmd7ojhn20v9k/trees.jpg?dl=0

I seriously thought that you would be the first person on this planet to try this fix 😆👍🏻

Haha, no I still haven't had a chance yet... Not used it in about a week.

I wonder if other things can be tweaked, eg

  • Speed of cars (seems a little too fast)
  • Building heights... I think the high rise apartment blocks are a little overdone, too many and too tall. In RL in Sydney 90% of apartment blocks are maybe 5 storeys max (it's probably the same everywhere).
  • And I've noticed that in the Philippines there are just far too many apartment blocks in general. In RL most are just sheds, warehouses, factories or other low rise commercial buildings (maybe 2 or 3 storey max), just check Google maps you'll see what I mean....  So it would be good if the number of buildings taller than 3 storeys could be drastically reduced.

The release version chopped the trees in half before any tweaks compared to the alpha. But yeah, I've seen this "fix" while in the beta as well. You can shrink them even more if you want and change lots of parameters. Pretty cool.

I agree, it would look better with the cars and trucks going at about half speed.  I had to lower them in FSX as well, so I will be looking for this setting in MSFS, as the traffic seems to be speeding everywhere in the towns and cities lol!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Could you guys please post or share your settings for the vegetation heights?

For those interested, about a week ago SlidHydra647449 posted a tree height fix over in the official forums. 👏

Not tried it yet, but it sounds like all tree (and other vegetation) species can have their min/max heights configured in a XML file.

Great! 👍

I hope they don't mess this up.  The tree height in some places is spot on, others their too tall.  Georgia for example their just right.  Hopefully this is regional and not global.

I really hope a mod comes out soon to fix the mushroom & cauliflower look of the trees in this sim!

You guys got it all wrong!  Remember they marketed this to the GTA crowd...so in order for it to appear realistic for them...all cars go 140mph on the freeway, 90 in the 'burbs.  Otherwise you'd be hearing cries of "This is not realistic...I can dive 140 all over the world in GTA" from them. 🤣

Still wondering were all the complaints are about not being able to crash into anything...then again....most of those "simmers" have probably already deleted the sim off their drives the 1st time they tried to crash into their high school and didn't get the appropriate blood and guts everywhere. 🙂

Yes, not sure but in certain areas that I fly over, such as Los Angeles, the trees look strange. Like you described they remind me of brocolli or cauliflower, and the texture looks off, The trees are covering certain streets as well and just looks awful. I wonder if there's a setting that can decrease the effect.

I think when the trees are on Ultra they seem to blend together better, so less noticeable... IDK, maybe I was imagining it.

It's global setting AFAIK... but I think a lot of people just fly the same areas over and over... ie for myself it's mostly Australia, so I'm happy to have tree size tweaked for Australia even if that means other areas might not look as good.

Also I wonder how the tree heights are distributed between min/max settings....  Is it a bell curve (like nature) or just a linear (random) spread?
