Agreed. Should have whats advertised.  But perhaps we have to temper expectations with what default weather should be.   I do expect winds to be correct instead of 225/03 all the time.  I would rather the data just speak for itself which in turn should be close to the METAR since Metars are from a human personal observation of the surrounding airport and pilot reports.  If I recall, we had alot of issues when weather was starting to be better implemented but there was a whole lot of hiccups in the earlier times of P3D and the later years of FSX.  Wind shifts, warm temperatures at cruise, improper depiction of current weather. It all took a very long time to work out.  WX is just too complex.  So I hope Asobo/MS can get this fixed ASAP, but I cant imagine its easy, or it wouldve been solved in the Alpha Beta process. Its a major component of flight (simulation).

That being said, yes addons get very expensive, and with my income price sensitive, however addons are what carry this niche hobby. Its always about enhancing and taking the default to a level or 2 higher. So if HIFI can do it so much better, then that would be a great option.  And its just that. An option. Same with the default airports including the premium and whether someone wants to buy the payware version of the same airport.  I cant wait for aircraft addons with a whole lot more complexity.   Without these addons, the default would get rather boring in simplication.

I wonder how much more add-ons with a monthly subscription will come up in the future.

Wouldnt be surprised if ActiveSky would make use of that too.

The worst thing, they made such a great show with their Feauture Discovery series, but showing a false system. Not to forget, they will improve it.

As correct as this statement is, I think we may be pipe-dreaming to a certain extent.  Whilst I love live weather, its accuracy is not a HUGE problem for me and I genuinely hope it is fixable by Asobo/MS.  I somehow think though, that it will be Active Sky. REX or similar which will provide the ultimate fix.  

I keep saying that the precedent has well and truly been set by all of the sim platforms, and I fear this will be no different. As such, I expect fundamentals will be fixed in this sim eventually by the original devs.  Aircraft, sceneries and utilities will fall into the province of 3PDs. ie most of our gripes will probably not be addressed by the MS/Asobo conglomerates.

In the end, though, it will not be unreasonable to expect an outstanding flight sim platform as a result of efforts by the original devs and 3PDs. Unfortunately, if my scenerio comes to fruitation, it will be at our added cost., but this is no different to the current situation flight simulation wide.

Gee, I hope I/we are wrong.

Was just flying down the Hudson valley in the Savage Cub, paused near Poughkeepsie to get some dinner and came back to solid fog under a clear sky. Not sure if that matches the forecasts but it looks bloody amazing! Now I just need to find a way of getting out of this mess without GPS and instruments 🤣

An option to have random CHANGING weather would be great if they cannot fix live weather. I did the first bush tour but with fixed wather was so boring.

Well, just got myself out of it and safely landed at KPOU. Checked the forecast and it pretty much matches what I saw in the simt: calm with patchy fog.

This or being able to manually set weather along the route or in regions.

We already know it wasn't working properly worldwide on release and we know it wasn't corrected in the first patch so we know it still isn't working correctly. But a thread is needed to complain about something that hasn't been fixed even though we already know hasn't been fixed?

Well seeing as how nothing has changed since this was pointed out, and, that Asobo have said that it should be fixed in the next update, and, the update in question has not yet been released! I think we can safely put this post into the Troll box.

How many these kind of treads we need more? Everybody knows that live weather isnt working as it should, and everybody should know that Asobo is aware of it.

The weather isn't working properly in all cases which will continue to be the case until it is patched.  If you read the latest publications from MS, you will see that all the weather related issues are on the list to be addressed.  

Except for winds aloft, which aren't working in most parts of the world (they do work in central Europe however), live weather works brilliantly and produces never before seen results. You need to make sure than during a session, never switch to weather presets, always stay on live weather. Otherwise you have to restart the sim. It's only a matter of finding great weather - like in the real world, it can be pretty boring, too. Just did a short flight from KSTL to KORD - the weather was amazing.

I think "weather themes" will become a thing, if not by Asobo, then by an add-on.

However, why wouldn't they be able to fix live weather. It's just some data not being fed appropriately, it will be after the next patch.

Talking about this and other issues got MS/Asobo to admit that there’s a problem in the first place. How people here are trying to shush others for raising their voice is beyond me!

If we were only being quiet and enjoy the beautiful looks of this Microsoft Scenery Simulator, nothing would ever get the attention of the devs.

Oh, and fyi, the problem with the Live Weather has been reported since TA1 and nobody cared to do anything about it. Only publicity is getting things to be changed.
