However they take a long time to read, require excessive storage on the servers and often lead to information overload. Then it may be quoted 1 or more times to exacerbate the problem. Please state your message concisely and relevant to the topic and if needed add more clarity in a second paragraph. We with old eyes will appreciate it. September 27, 20205 yr Paragraphs are good. I'll often skip a post if it's just a huge wall of text in need of paragraph breaks. As for the total length of a post, I've noticed that forums related to PC software like flight sims often have longer posts, because it's so easy to type on a PC keyboard and read text on a PC monitor. In gaming forums where more people are posting from their phones, the posts tend to be much shorter and full of abbreviations. I type and read on my PC, so I don't mind long posts, as long as the info is interesting and relevant. It's easy enough to page down or move to the next thread. ETA: One minor annoyance is signature lines that take up a lot of space, because that does require both extra scrolling and more page loads in a longer thread. On the other hand, sometimes the sigs are interesting enough to be worth it. I try to keep mine (below) short. Some things do take a bit of explaining, and for some of us it makes for interesting reading. September 27, 20205 yr The length of a post doesn't concern me but one thing I find irksome is when posters reply using the quote feature but don't edit the content of that quoted text (By edit I mean just display the sentence that is the focus of your reply). It's particularly annoying when it contains many images. Do they need to be "quoted". Then of course there is the worst case scenario: A quote reply to a quoted reply.
