October 5, 20205 yr Hi everyone Just wondering if there is any news on the 737 being released for FS2020? Paul
October 5, 20205 yr There is no freeware 737 in the making that I’m aware of. The PMDG is expected end of next year now after announcing delays recently. There is another 737-400 I think but little information around about that at the moment and I expect that to be payware.
October 5, 20205 yr We don't need PMDG lets get a zibo type 737 in MSFS. Let them stay with P3D with the dying users. Edited October 5, 20205 yr by jbdbow1970
October 5, 20205 yr Commercial Member Zibo is/was, an edit of a default plane in XP11.There is no defaut 737 in MSFS, so im not sure what you'r on about. 20 minutes ago, jbdbow1970 said: We don't need PMDG lets get a zibo type 737 in MSFS. And not sure about that rant either, basically, you'r saying let someone work on a zibo type plane (im guessing thats not you thats going to develop it), so i dont have to pay money for a PMDG. What if the Zibo guys decided to make a payware for MSFS, would you still buy it?

October 5, 20205 yr The flightsim community and market cannot be sustained on freeware alone. It needs paying customers. We will otherwise never get top quality addons. Edited October 5, 20205 yr by ErichB

Exactly! Things like the Zibo mod are an exception. You get nice things by the community, but it's a patchwork all too often. With XP it took forever until a decent plane including a FMC was available. Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

October 5, 20205 yr All the Zibo graphical assets and much of the code belong to Laminar. Zibo modified to code to make it a more rounded plane. There is no way Laminar will allow those assets to be used on a competitors sim which means Zibo would need to start from scratch by building his own model. That assumes that 1. he has model building skills and 2. he even wants to develop for MSFS. It's much more likely a freeware developer from the FSX/P3D world would take up the mantle and even then it would probably take a lot longer than the Zibo did because there is no model to work with. In conclusion, if you want to fly a decent quality free 737, use X-Plane Jason E Row Follow me on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/user/JasonRowPhotography

I chuckle when people talk in terms like "we" and "let's" when they assume someone else will just do all that high-quality work for free. Having actually taken on a project like that before (the TinMouse II B737-200 in FS9/FSX) I think few really comprehend how much time (thousands of hours) and energy needs dedicated by people with very unique talents to make a project like that work. Something like the Zibo represents the rare exception, not the rule. Yes, we really do need the PMDGs and FSLs and Majestic's developing for MSFS unless we want aircraft options made up mostly of arcade-game planes that perform like X-Wing fighters flown by pilots with advanced Parkinson's Disease (in other words, just like the current fleet of default planes). One or two exceptions like the XPlane Zibo isn't going to get us where we want to go. October 5, 20205 yr It is a lot of work to do any very high quality freeware, even designing airports which is in some ways easier than planes (at least in MSFS), as the SDK is more complicated when it comes to dealing with aircraft parts. I was really impressed with Aerosoft's free Paderborn/Lippstadt, good job. Seems the main issue I have with the planes in MSFS is the way the ground effect as you get right above the runway, it seems way too much, it becomes very difficult to smoothly set a plane down without eating up all the runway.
