Well, I sometimes like to start a positive discussion by celebrating some good news about the sim or updates, but I get your point.

And once again, it is not about the negativity as a valid point, it is when people rant that causes the problem.

I know peoples' definition of a rant can be different, but if someone came up to you in the street and spoke like in the first post, most people would walk away and shake their head.  Kind of what is happening here - A natural reaction I think.

Tired of this now anyway.  The weekend is nearly upon us.  MSFS Showtime! 😁

50% correct.

Less negativity does NOT equal NO negativity. I've seen users come here and ask for help and even will state something "negative" about the sim. Then members come to the rescue to help and most issues are resolved. Something negative was turned into a positive.

Something worth celebrating! in itself, I was reacting to

Stop looking for confrontation and develop the attitude of "how can I help?"

Yes I should have added "mostly" in my sentence. Celebrations aren't bad as such when they don't come to a mean to make dissenters shut up. What it comes to with some posters, including in this thread

I do not like rants, not my style, getting mellower with age, but the  frustration of some of the "I quit" folks reflects also a reality. Yes, some good people wants to quit and give up. I don't feel unhealthy for them to say it. They say it their way, not always theway I would say it. But their posts have their place in a forum.  We are not here to decide what the other guys can or cannot say, and the proper way to address an issue.

I've been watching the donation percentage ever since MSFS was released.  At that time it was about 16%.  It is currently 29%.

There has been an interesting trend where the percentage will stay the same for a long time, then suddenly go up 1 to 3 percent, then stay the same for a while.  The most interesting thing about this trend is when the percentage rises and when it stays static, and the general tone of the forums when these things happen.

Basically, when people are happy, they donate.  When people are happy, the general tone of the forum is positive.  You want more donations, try keeping the tone of the forum more positive.  This goes for everyone.

We've seen a lot of good stuff happening with MSFS, but there is obviously a long ways yet to go.  Report problems, ask for assistance, don't bash the sim or especially the developers, whether Asobo or third party devs.  Keep the faith.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

This thread HAS gone on too long, and I have a part in that, so I'm going to say my peace and participate in other threads here.

What is missing from this "debate" is intent.

There is a definite difference in tone from someone who has valid issues, who is willing to troubleshoot for solutions or temporary workarounds, and someone who's sole purpose is to "stir the pot'.

Recently this forum had a great thread about the Avionics shutdown issue and a workable workaround was found.   Not only that, the issue was isolated for the most part to a setting in options which explained why some people got it all the time, and others never got it at all.  And

Another, not so great thread example was when someone who was "frustrated" decided to harp up in a thread about what 3rd party planes we would like to see with the statement "any automated UAV because the existing planes are unflyable".  Uh...yeah.   Ok dude.

And another "I'm outta here" thread which really was a veiled attempt to slander and bad mouth a developer into forcing him to give him a discount code.   That one appears to have been deleted.

I get frustration, I get the need to vent.  But there is a clear difference between venting and stirring the pot.   And in my experience, most of the "I'm Outta Here" type threads are of the latter.  They offer no room to provide assistance, they are often filled with gross generalizations and personal attacks against a group of individuals.  And whether or not those people should have thick enough skins to handle it, is beside the point.

If your intent, is to ask for assistance, or see what others in your situation have done to help with a problem, or find resources to report an issue, etc. etc.  Then fine.  no problem.

But if your intent is to simply drop a hand grenade in the room and watch the blood splatter, then I think it's fair to call those people out.   Especially when those same people fein righteous indignation for having their "opinions" attacked while still having the pin around their finger.  And those people know who they are.  We all do.

Peace out.  It's time to fly.

Mafia DE is on my steam wishlist. How is it compared to the original?

Much nicer graphics, the story is the same but they have removed some free mission, such as going to the workshop and getting tips on cars to steal, but it is definitely worth buying.

Sorry to disagree here. There are enough threads about issues of MSFS and there's nothing wrong with them, notably if they provide solutions/workarounds.

It's those "I am done with MSFS" posts coming up every other day bothering me - because most of them serve a purpose (which the authors will never admit, of course): To draw other users to another sim usually conveniently referred to in the corresponding post to make it (re)grow with the purpose to draw add-on developers (back) to "that" sim.

Kind regards, Michael

Thanks for the explanation, I have not thought that way, but it is quite obvious that you are right.

Yes, it's not very well disguised it it?   I can often see that coming, and I try to guess which sim they will be 'going back to' before I reach the bottom of the post!  😁

You're not trying hard enough! LOL

I've had several. I had two yesterday... but only when messing with FMCs trying to alter flight plans during a flight. This area is a landmine. Otherwise, quite stable.

Maybe your Genesis Device is interfering with it... 😁

The Thrill is Gone!

Too many seeds to have to spit out, I have to wait too long after I put it in the refrigerator to get cold enough, promises of seedless versions that taste as good which they don't, no lovely orange color!

Oh but look at all of the lovely redness, and huge too!

Even the dissapointment has worn off, now it's just another fruit that does not do what I thought it should do.

Back to Canteloupe for--a quick slice to half it, scrape out a few seeds in the middle, one more slice to quarter it--three big bites, no hiccoughs.  :blink::laugh:

Why do people post these departure announcements? There's literally nothing anyone can say to convince you not to and it just leads to circular arguments.

Just move on, it's that simple.

Don’t know because we don’t really care.

I think if someone announces that they are done with MSFS, they should be giving 24 hours, then be denied posting priveledges.  That would keep them from receiving the attention they so deeply want.

Either that, or everyone else's replies should be restricted to "good bye".

Or you could just ignore the topic and allow people to discuss why they’re disillusioned with MFS. They clearly have good reason given the cost of it.

If we adopted your suggestion it would make AvSim look like the Stasi or worse in denying members their opportunity to discuss what aspects of the sim irritates them so much they no longer want to use it.

This place isn’t just for lavishing praise on MFS. All voices, within reason, deserve to be heard.

Not a good idea to post that given you have only just joined.
