Now thank God, no matter how painful, the status quo is broken, history has resumed, and the sleepy Mom and Pop stores will need to figure out what they're going to do about that Walmart that just moved in. Warning! Some of that was hyperbole, but just as some people say that after two months they're very frustrated with msfs, after several decades I'm very frustrated with some of our Legacy Sims. Most poignant statements yet. 🙂 "After all, where else did we, as simmers, have to go?".....its like that scene at the end of Men in Black....where J show's K that our "world" is just another a locker at a train station. 🙂 - We can "go" to other versions of flightsims....but in the end...we're ALL in that same, little train station locker at the end of the day. "that Walmart that just moved in" - Yeah.....that corner store "Ace Hardware" is either going outta' business, or trying to figure out how to compete, So far I've seen FSDT and Flightbeam, Orbx, etc up their game, adjust to the new norm, and give us some great, feature packed scenery...at lower prices, AND discount's for previous customers...ATTENTION all other commercial devs out there: This is how you do it. 😉 Do NOT try to port over old P3d/FSX code, wrap a pretty wrapper around it, "Claim" its native code built from scratch, argue with your customers when they call you out on it, and ignore the truth... @Chock knows who I'm talking about. 🙂 " after several decades I'm very frustrated with some of our Legacy Sims." - You and me both brother! Still waiting for my v .90 update for my Airbus A340. (although this is a "Commercial" developer issue rather than a sim-platform issue) 😉 Edited October 16, 20205 yr by Steve Dra reworded for clarity Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

Seems a ludicrous statement IMO, at least if we define'tweaking' as some kind of background file editing to fix or improve something, and we compare MSFS to P3D which has been subject to all manner of 'tweaking' since it debuted, though the latter versions have, of course, been more stable and w/ less need to 'tweak'. I've had exactly no need to 'tweak' anything and the sim has been largely flawless for me. I've rendered both Control Towers and 15 buildings so far, the airport has 65 buildings and 10 or so ancillary buildings. I've decided I'll custom render all front facing or unique ones, but a few in the back I'm going to save that for a V2 update or something else, but overall it will be entirely custom rendered. Sorry, I keep misposting screenshots as it is hard to keep track of what is what, here is a shot of the electric poles I meant to post, I have mixed feelings if I will render the tractors custom or not, I may. The roads, custom fencing, electrical lines, vegetation --- all hand placed. It's a LOT of work, so much work. The road is even designed to look exactly like the real road (though still working on it). Wait.....you clearly used Simmons glass insulators on that power pole, when EVERYONE knows that the Racort Dual-walled mica-infused insulators are the standard nowadays! And those transformers? Puuulease! you call this detailed work? Looks like a direct port from FSX. Hack if I ever saw one! And regarding your choice of Tractors should you decide to go custom....If I see a single green tractor when EVERYONE knows in this region, Kubota ORANGE populates this landscape, I KNOW you didn't do your research. Pffft. Wait....I'm not one of those simmers. Sorry @SceneryFX, AWESOME work! October 16, 20205 yr Look. I'm okay with "opinion". We all have one, and most of them stink, including my own, as the saying goes.... But where I draw the line, and where I will call someone out is when their "opinion" is demonstratively false. Then it stops becoming opinion and becomes deceit. Or when someone drops into an existing thread or creates a new thread to simply drop a grenade in the room and watch the guts fly. That is TROLLING. Period. My personal favorite type of Trolling is when someone claims that their <insert sim product of choice here> is a "real simulator" where MSFS is merely a game, blah blah blah, and then tells everyone that they're "out of here". News flash. They are ALL games, even the one you buy from a well known aviation company for an inflated price that specifically says "not for entertainment purposes". WHY? Because not one of those products on their own meets the 14 CFR Part 60 requirements to be a Flight Simulation Training device according to the FAA. Deal with it, none of our sims are sims, according to the FAA So face it guys and gals, we're all gamers, mere gamers. Gamers with fancy hardware and expensive computers so that we can pretend to fly airplanes that most of us will never have the opportunity to do so in real life, or for a lucky few, get to relive some of the memories they had flying in their younger days. Or like me, being able to feel if just a little bit like a pilot, knowing that I'll never have the means to get my private pilots license, and even if I could, not having the means to enjoy it once I had it. October 16, 20205 yr Just contrast this exciting announcement at LM, w/ the socalled 'lack of progress' in MSFS: PREPAR3D V5 HAS LAUNCHED! April 14, 2020 Chris Metel The entire Lockheed Martin team is proud to launch Prepar3D v5 after more than two years since our last major release... Yep, more than TWO YEARS and what did LM deliver? Well, you got a nice teaser at next gen atmospherics you just can't run it, and you got DX12 and with it a prompt to start shopping new GPUs w/ ample VRAM. Now that is real progress, and in only TWO YEARS PLUS! That franchise has trained the paying beta testers well to expect almost nothing, and be totally stoked when a little more than nothing arrived. Ok, well DX12 and EA (yes, when it's fully ready) is more than a little. But, unless your're faking your status as a true 'student' by their definition, it's ANOTHER $200. Edit: Hehe...in my haste (and the fact I'm old), I quoted the wrong post, but will comment on @Noel's post to say...everything is relative, and all things being equal time-wise, I feel MSFS has a slight lead in producing updates (whether they are good or bad ones....that is an entire subject in itself, hehe) Here is the post that is relative to my dreams of someday making it to a tropical paradise one day...for real: @wthomas33065 mentioned: So face it guys and gals, we're all gamers, mere gamers. I mocked in another "opinion" post that for decades I've been promising my wife to take her to Tahiti (or was it Fiji?)....and even when I wear a straw hat, flowered shirt, and making her a cocktail with a little umbrella in it...all while sitting at my desk, in the cockpit of this plane I painted JUST for the journey (shameless plug) I STILL can't get her to sign off that this counts for a real trip! (Go figure....some people huh?) I tried the same thing with a slight diversion to Hawaii, instead in this girl.... STILL wouldn't go for it. 😞 EDIT: Changed the pic of Hawaiian as it was pre-release and I had the gall to show off here with incomplete work, hehe (winglets were not painted yet). This was the only other pic I had handy (the release pic)....I did NOT post this to prove that I painted it....I'm way past the point I need to prove anything to the old crowd here that's seen a post or two of mine.🤣 I gotta' get help! 🙂 Edited October 16, 20205 yr by Steve Dra Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

It's at least 3 months and probably more like 6 from being anywhere near releasable quality. It's not alpha quality, let alone beta quality, and there is clearly virtually no testing going on beyond the bare minimum. Sling something in, hope it works, get it out as another patch. This is probably because Asobo are under pressure to get it out as an XBox launch so stuff the PC group. The UI gives the impression of being put together on the fly with zero thought ; I mean it what kind of world would you *not* make the stupid tooltips an option. Who designed the joystick setup interface ? Why when you pop out an instrument does it leave the controls behind ? It's simply unfit to be released, and the pretty graphics don't hide from that. There's very little in it besides the sim, a few non-mission type things, a revamped version of the first part of FS2004's Machado tutorial, the planes barely fly let alone work correctly. It's a classic example of "Nice Video, shame about the Song". 9 hours ago, paulscottrobson said: Well, let's be honest. It's not just got issues. After some searching I failed...but here is the narrative: Snoopy, as always, is pondering about the world in its current state, while laying on top of his doghouse. Can't recall the exact details...but a kid walks by with a bottled water, and he launches into one of his platform speeches (in a bubble chat over his head naturally since he can't really talk) about how the world is going to heck....commercialism, people "buying" water (when to him its free in his bowl or the closest faucet)....and continues for a while as he tends to do. His finals statement is "I guess next they'll be selling air!". The next cell in the comic strip is a boy walking past with a balloon. October 16, 20205 yr I enjoy MSFS immensely, I am greatly pleased it was released when it was. I enjoy the scenery and sometimes the flying. I also stated the parts I am very unpleased with, and I have also stated how grateful I am for some of the genius that came to light with the game engine and rendering engine it is using. The difference is I don't generally see peoples opinions as a negative indicator of their personality, people are reading into that way too much. Pure hyperbole in here, and I will try to avoid even participating in the debate because it offends people, and my intent isn't to offend anyone. The truth is, some opinions are merely a reflection of personal taste, and neither opinion is fully right or fully wrong. If I say, I do not like Nikes, but someone else does, am I wrong that I do not like Nikes. No, of course not. That said, I do like MSFS, just don't understand the weird human nature in forums that everything has to be ALL GOOD or ALL BAD. I think the last person that thought that, wasn't his name - Darth Vader? Edited October 16, 20205 yr by SceneryFX AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
