My view on MSFS now, 2 months after release

At this time for me, MSFS is only a "Cessna 172 VFR simulator" and a nice scenery tool to view the earth from above by setting dev camera on and using the XBOX controller to span around.

Hopefully, it will be a good flight simulator at some point in time, but it will take a long time, I am afraid.

Now, 2 months after its release, the "simulator" has not shown any real improvements or bug fixes.

MS/ASOBO's priority is probably to get it working and released for XBOX now, and not to do improvements and bug fixes.

What are your reasons for assuming that?

Can't you  fly from VOR to VOR and land with an ILS ? Or do an RNAV approach ? Manually and on autopilot ?

This post is like a model "trolling post on MSFS" we should preserve for posterity. All those negative (largely baseless) narratives collected in one place.

Scenery simulator! Will take too long to get good! XBOX! XBOX!

Given I own a Cessna 172 hardware panel plus all Saitek Cessna gear and I enjoy flying VFR flying this is my dream come true right now.

Kind regards, Michael

Intel i7-13700K / AsRock Z790 / Crucial 32 GB DDR 5 / ASUS RTX 4080OC 16GB / BeQuiet ATX 1000W / WD m.2 NVMe 2TB (System) / WD m.2 NVMe 4 TB (MSFS) / WD HDD 10 TB / XTOP+Saitek hardware panel /  LG 34UM95 3440 x 1440  / HP Reverb 1 (2160x2160 per eye) / Win 11

The title of the post is key: “2 month after release”

Besides the typo, it’s another trolling post to get some attention.

Hopefully my post will be the last that feeds it...

IFR camp: MFS is just a buggy paid alpha! A glorified scenery simulator, nothing else!

VFR camp: MFS is ok. Some bugs, but is pretty nice.

Hardcore VFR camp: The tree heights trigger me on a deeply offensive level!

Thread over. Mods close please.

I don't own any hardware, but if the sim does even just one airplane well, that's good enough for me personally. If I could afford a plane IRL, it would likely be a humble Cessna.

I am frustrated with other issues, however - broken scenery, lightning everywhere, etc (we all know the list). I keep my fingers crossed that all of these things will be fixed eventually.

Hove you tried any of the freeware mods or payware content available?

Yes, I agree that the game is still a WIP and that ASOBO needs some quality control, but what it does well it does it better than any other sim available.

MSFS

I guess if you just call anyone with any negative comments a "troll" and the'll just go away nicely and hide in shame,,,

or... or.... we could show them how naive they are by some IFR flight progress pics, currently assigned FL320 and tracking to Heathrow, minor icing from Innsbruck staying with me but we all good. Did I mention the sim has built in current NAVDATA that cycles, or that I can use SID and STAR procedures out of the box for instrument flight.

P.S. Icing built up due to my lack of initiating de-icing measures before crossing through sub freezing cloud cover.

2 months in and loving the

172 G1000 with the G1000 mod for low and slow,

The amazing Turbo Bonanza for low and fast or a bit higher,

The TBM 930 with the G3000 mod is wonderful.

Totally disagree. Attention seeking imo.
