Carenado prices

Featured Replies

With the new PA44 Seminole nearly out, I am wondering if the asking price of 30EUR is not too much for their plane addons.

Looking at their website, those plane already existed on previous sims, like P3D or X-plane. 3D models of the outside, cockpit and the sounds.

What about you, do you think it's too expensive, and you would buy it if it was 10-15 euros cheaper, like I would do, or do you think the price is correct for what you get?

For me it is all opportunity cost.

With Carenado the opportunity cost (basically the other things I could have spent the money on) is too high compared to the limited tim eI would fly those aircraft. With some of the $5/$10 airports the opportunity cost is a coffee at the local cafe so it is no issue to grab those on impulse, but the Carenado aircraft are expensive enough to need consideration.

I did spend money on the Iris Jabiru pack, but with two aircraft, 4 cockpits and being an aircraft I have personally flown and trained in, it seemed money well spent.  The jabiru has had some issues, some fixed and some they are still working on but I have no regrets as I fly it in game almost as much as Rob Young's Turbo Bonanza.

I think that the price is not as important as having a fully working, well supported add-on. A discount to existing users probably will not happen because Carenado has chosen to sell exclusively through the MSFS marketplace.

All I fly pretty much is their Mooney so I feel the money was well spent.  I never fly the C182 though shouldn't have bought that.

Well.  I'm not sure.  I'd be surprised if it will model asymmetric thrust properly.

If everything in avionics-land worked then maybe.  I'd rather see their Phenom 300 or a Cheyenne 400.

I feel like Carenado is not in line with other add-ons.  Other scenery addons used to be 30 bucks for a good airport.  Now they're anywhere from 10-20.  Carenado, being as buggy as they are, should definitely follow suit.

Yeah, the Iris Simulation guys have said they have Marketplace approval for their Jabiru package but until some SDK problems which are causing them FM issues are resolved they are not comfortable dropping it on the Marketplace until the aircraft is a bit more bullet proof.  They are offering it by direct sale and on Orbyx for people keen to get it early but not putting it on the Marketplace. That seems a very responsible approach, considering the money they could make as one of only five marketplace aircraft must making listing very tempting now they have approval.

They are also offering a two aircraft package for less than the price Caranedo are charging for one aircraft.

In terms of Carenado it is pretty simple. I am unlikely to buy any of their aircraft currently on offer, I would not fly them enough, i would prefer to stick the cash into a tank of gas and take my bike on a coast run.

If instead Carenado had offered the aircraft at a cheaper price, or maybe as a package of three aircraft at the current price  for one - it may have been more worth it to me. Now whether Carenado would overall make more money or less money overall with a cheaper price structure is only conjecture and not worth arguing over, that is something the Carenado marketing people will need to work out, not us.

My logic is simple. Fix the Mooney and the C182 first, then I might consider additional aircraft. No fix, no buy.

When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

Policy is to not buy any addon aircraft until a proper SDK is released and followed. Should know better!

Ray-

THAT IS KEY FOR US ALL... if we vote with out wallets AND REFUSE TO MAKE ANY MORE CARENADO PURCHASES UNTIL THEY FIX THIER ISSUES- it will get done promptly.

If people allow their eyes to convince them, @Carenado will continue its long history of pretty but broken airplanes.

WE NEED TO SEND A CLEAR MESSAGE! I’m not spending another cent with Carenado until it FIXES THE MOONEY.

Agreed. Im also waiting for the Mooney to get fixed before buying anything else, but to be honest, even if they do fix it, im pretty sure they lost me as a customer, its taken too bloody long, so, no, buying a Seminole that could be broken half of its shelf life, thanks but no thanks.

If we ALL STICK TOGETHER and STOP BUYING we will get their attention- promise!

Meanwhile, back in reality...

Seriously though, 24 quid is not a great deal of money for a twin GA aeroplane for a sim.

And yes I know that much of it is a pre-existing port-over, but since I never owned it for any other sim version that's neither here nor there to me, and even if it were so they did still have to get it into MSFS and working reasonably okay.

So true. The majority of their customer probably never visit this forum. Sycophants will buy from their first impulse.

Simple supply and demand.  They are one of the few payware plane makers at this point.  Everyone can talk about future add-ons that will be tons better, but people want something to fly this weekend.

Personally, I'm just holding off on the Seminole and am waiting on the freeware DA62.  I find the freeware Beech with the freeware G1000 mod is better than any payware plane at this point.

That's the wonderful thing about a free market, everyone is free to buy what they want, and companies can charge what they want.
