AIG AI Manager OCI for MSFS – Development Announcement

Recommended Posts

I'm new to using this.  From what I can tell I've followed the instructions exactly...but I'm not getting any traffic.  However, if I put my Ground AI density slider to 100....plenty of aircraft show up and they have the correct liveries per the Flight Plans I installed via the AI Manager.  I must just be missing something stupid....

This seems way too complicated for me at the moment, I will wait to install this after SU7 when there hopefully are youtube tutorials on how to manage it.

I kind of feel the same.  I got the two downloads and was going to start the process after work today.  Got home and saw 34 pages on this thread.  Right then I knew I would be waiting for a full and complete install vid (or specific step by step process) which includes recommended settings for the AIG stuff, AddonLInker and within the sim itself.  I have looked at the two manuals provided, but still had a lot of questions.

AIG does a fantastic job but I cant help but feel it is set up for prior users of their great freeware.  However, the shear number of questions being asked here is a bit daunting.

I will check around again this weekend, maybe something will be available.

Literally took 10 minutes to set up. I can see that for someone who isn't computer savvy, this could seem intimidating. It isn't 🙂

You must have only installed a couple of airline flightplans then if it took 10 minutes...doing a large set could take hours. And most of us here are pretty savvy, but there are certainly some steps that need clarification or streamlined down the road for the non-beta install (things like including both exe files, clarifying the in-sim settings, or showing what the manual download steps are in the OCI bulk process)...

Are you running the AIG Traffic Controller exe (as an administrator) prior to starting MSFS?

I was referring to the setup of the interface, all the logins, configs of the paths etc. It'll definitely take a bit to get all packages installed.

I keep getting an error message that at least one of my OCI models is outdated.  It then asks me to perform an update.  But each time I think I am doing that I get the same message?

Any ideas?

Well, after a career in software development, I doubt that I'm "someone who isn't computer savvy," but I'm completely at a loss here.

I first installed AI Manager, following the instructions in the manual...but, on page 5, I find that it appears that I need to have AI Traffic Controller installed by that point  I tried installing TC, only to find out on page 5 of that manual that I should have an OCI installation so I can point TC's settings to its directory -- but there isn't anything where it's supposed to be.  So, I'm half-way through installation/configuration of both programs, and I seem to have hit a complete wall and have no idea how to proceed.  🤬

Here's instructions from Bad_T  I've been trying to follow but for this recurring error message.  Maybe they will help you:

I don't have a YT chan and was too lazy to create one so i know a lot of people will not download and check the video, but maybe it will popup as you YT link soon if someone upload it there. When it's officially released, the pro YT content creator will probably make some videos about it, those will be great, this is very basic because i'm complete zero in doing videos.

The video has no sound, explanations are below, so don't expect a high quality tutorial, it's just a quick-hand to help beginners get started when it's released. Thank you for your understanding 🙊

The goal is to show that it's very easy, with the PDF tutorial there is a lot to read and it might seem difficult, but with a video you really can see it only take a few clicks.

00:00 : i start from complete scratch with no traffic at all in MSFS, i just downloaded the 2 AIG tools and extracted them in a folder of my choice
00:05 : first thing is to make sure the tools are run as admin
00.20 : we can finally launch AIG Manager first, select MSFS2020 as simulator
00.40 : time to go into the settings, first in the 'flightplans' where we enable AIGTC files and select our Traffic controller path
00.57 : then in the cookies tab we login to AIG forum and to Avsim library so that the tool will be able to download files if/when needed
01.38 : then in the cookies tab we just click on the setup button
01.46 : make sure everything is ok here, your community folder should be auto-detected (if not select it) and the AIGFP option should be set (probably already ok as we did that a bit earlier at 00.40)
02:04 : now i will restart AIG Manager, we can see that when i clicked on 'setup' at the previous step the tools as created the package (aig-aitraffic-oci-beta) in my community folder
02:24 : now we can finally install flightplans, the online tab contains all available flightplans (there are a loooooot of them). I will test at UKBB so i will install 2 flightplans for the test (Ukraine airlines and Windrose)
03:22 : for info, if you keep CTRL pressed, you can select multiple flightplans at once, then by using the 'OCI-bulk' button below you can install them without doing it one by one. I forgot to show in the video but the 'installed' tab would now show the installed flightplans (ukraine and windrows in my example)
03:39 : time to launch and setup AIG Traffic controller (select MSFS2020 at the start)
03:44 : not sure about that message 🙂
03:55 : in the settings select 'Use AIGFP' and set your OCI-Directory with the select button. You have to choose the folder created by AIG Manager in your MSFS community folder. I also checked auto-injection so that TC will spawn the aircraft as soon as it connects to the sim
04:40 : after changing those base parameters i restart AIG Traffic controller
04:55 : time to launch the sim
05:02 : after a few seconds, TC will spawn the aircraft and we can enjoy them in the sim
05:32 : if i change the time the traffic is automatically adapted according to the flightplans

Everything is setup now, now you just have to add the flightplans you want and launch TC when you want to see the traffic in the sim, i don't think it can get any easier than that, all those who did flightplan manually a few years ago know how time wasting it can be.

Keep in mind that the first release will be beta
- msfs still doesn't like AI very much, sometimes i get flashing aicraft (appear / disappear)
- a lot of flightplans don't contain all the the models yet, so some aircraft will be missing
- a lot of default airports in MSFS don't have accurate parking slots (for example at LGRP you have only small GA parking slots, nothing will be spawned there)
- still i think it is fantastic that AIG group spent so much in trying to produce something for MSFS. Many thanks to Kai but also all the other content creator working in the dark shadow (modelers / repainters / testers / ....). I can't imagine how much time this has been invested into this.

Posted with Kai's permission, i'm not part of the AIG team so this is not official at all, just a fan 🙊"

How's everyone getting on logging into their avsim account through AIManager? It won't accept my password. Reset it and it still won't accept it. When I try to get avsim to send a link to my email address, it says there's no account recignised with that email. Clearly there is as i'm logged in right now. I don't know if this is an avsim issue or an AIManager issue..

I keep get script error.  I can get to avsim login but it won't accept my password because it goes back to script error.

I can login in my browser just fine.  It is this browser AIG uses that is kicking me out of avsim each time enter user name and password..ugh.  Anyone know what browser AIG uses?

Wouldn't recommend, since it gets update regularly and needs to be where it is supposed to be

Addons Linker doesn't touch the AIM-OCI and AIGTC .exe files, just the truckloads of data installed in Community, so - no problems.

What value do you guys use for this screen? The one in the PDF doesn't match the default settings in the app. So I'm not sure which one to use.

All right -- I decided to blow away everything and start from scratch.

As I now understand it, to set up AI Manager, I only have to unzip the AI TrafficController files to a directory of its own, and enter that directory in the AI Manager settings as the "AIGTC directory" -- but I don't actually have to run Traffic Controller and configure it first, just have the directory folder with its unzipped files in place.  Is that correct?

More importantly, when I run the procedure to create the OCI directory, am I supposed to point it to my Community folder, which, in my case, is something like

C:\users\regnaDkciN\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_843543q2yuh\LocalCache\Packages\Community

or should it be placed somewhere else?  I notice that the video recommended for me has a more-direct path, x:\games\microsoft flight simulator\packages\Community. which doesn't seem to fit any pattern I've seen as to how to access the actual Community folder.  Confusing the matter is that my installation directory for the program is H:\MSFS, inside which there are two folders, "Community" and "Official" -- but that "Community" folder is empty and, I suspect, something I may have put there over the past year just to store the contents of the real Community folder when I had to empty it out, as opposed to being anything that's an actual part of MSFS.  So, is the proper step to point it to the Community folder in AppData, as I have it above?

I'm running flight plan installer so can't check.  But follow the video (link) in the walkthrough I posted and he shows what should be checked.
