January 25, 20215 yr Grenada has masks around its coast https://imgur.com/a/nxPsMQl It's not as vibrant as other places. Barbados does too. A lot of of the Grenadine islands seem to Carricou Island Edited January 25, 20215 yr by Tuskin38
February 17, 20215 yr Author Left is trailer, middle is before the UK World Update, right is after the patch. Six months later the Oceania trailer is finally representative of what you can see in-game with a couple of exceptions, Moorea which does not have a lot of detail pass through the mask, and Bay of Islands which is continuing to be missing. Plus I think they could have easily culled some of the baked waves in Samoa. Still, this is a massive improvement over what we had before, and all those areas look a lot more visually rich now. Plus it was pleasing to see that it was not only the specific spots in the trailer shots receiving the proper water masks, but also the area around them, which makes all of those spots very enjoyable to fly around now in my opinion. It especially surprised me to see the area around Mato Island have most of the detail pass through since the imagery is rather difficult in that area, and Timor Sea looks absolutely gorgeous now. Think of it as a mini-Oceania World Update! I will be checking out all of the other trailer spots which will take some time, plus I will report Bay of Islands to Zendesk soon. So if you see any other water masks that have gone missing with the latest patch or continue to be missing, please mention them in here so I can include them in my report.

February 17, 20215 yr Author Here are the locations from the Asia and Africa trailers. Looking much, much better now. Bonus shots of Dahlak Islands, Zanzibar Island and Djerba. Gorgeous locations and some sweet water mask coverage. Highly recommended. However, I also spotted a gnarly gap in the Tungbukan Island mask. Approximate co-ordinates are 4.889328295563657, 119.88519982621334. Could anyone please check this out?
February 17, 20215 yr If that was a few thousand miles further west I would have said you have found the secret entrance to Atlantis! 😀 Bing maps look OK. Must be a tile playing up. I will check it when I get in from work. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. February 17, 20215 yr The water masks do make flying around these areas much more immersive and satisfying. I can't wait to visit these areas and see them for myself. Although some areas, the water masks seems quite low quality such as Oahu, Hawaii. I really hope that they will continue refining these water masks to make them look their best. Great job Asobo! February 17, 20215 yr It certainly looks much better now. Not as vibrant as the trailer water masks, but a bit more subtle. Still looks great. February 17, 20215 yr Unfortunately, they also deleted some stunning water masks in Bissau (Guinea Bissau) The ones from this video are gone!

I thought I was fanatical about watermasks. Outstanding! MSFS
February 18, 20215 yr Author And now the rest, from the Europe, North America and South America trailers. I was initially surprised that they took care of Lackenakea which is really minor, but then I remembered it's in Ireland. However the area seems to have been degraded with this update, due to some buildings not rendering anymore. Increasing the graphics settings does not do anything so I presume it's a bug. Of those areas, only Rosario Islands was neglected. I will report it to Zendesk along with Bay of Islands and Tungbukan Island, and I'm thinking of reporting Moorea too. Only a small patch of the water imagery is covered by clouds, and since the baked waves can be culled easily in that case, it doesn't make sense to hide all that detail. I also checked all of the areas that were properly water masked already (Faro, Xcalak, Cayos Cochinos, Providencia, Nassau, Punta Cana, Culebrita, Bridgetown) and thankfully they were all in place. No nasty surprises this time. @Dillon St John's which is in Antigua is now featuring proper water masks. Were you referring to a different area? @Noooch The video you linked to was uploaded in October. Do you know whether it was 1.13.16.0 that removed the water masks from that area? EDIT: Oh dear, I just realised that Lackenakea is using new satellite imagery, which is much blurrier than the old one. Why would they do that? Has anyone else noticed such a degradation in Ireland after yesterday's update? Edited February 18, 20215 yr by ChaoticBeauty

February 18, 20215 yr @ChaoticBeauty No unfortunately I don't know when it was removed. I just checked yesterday .But the problem is the same. I don't know how we can expect to have masks on the entire earth if they remove them once they have put a hard manual work creating them in the first place. Edited February 18, 20215 yr by Noooch
April 13, 20215 yr Author The WaterBlurMasks.cgl file was updated today. I don't know which of the new locations are (please do post if you find some!), so strictly regarding the trailers: 1. I checked all of the trailer water masks, and thankfully none have gone missing. 2. Unfortunately, Bay of Islands and Rosario Islands are still not implemented. 3. The water mask around MBAC, demonstrated in the Pre-Order trailer, existed before but it was missing some information. With World Update 4 the full detail is shown, and it has some very decent coverage around the airport. However they did not fix a nearby cloud artifact that I noted in my Zendesk report. 4. The gnarly gap in the mask for the Tungbukan Island has been corrected! Great coverage, and I would recommend checking that spot out. @Noooch Sadly, the masks in the Bissagos Archipelago have not returned! You can be rest assured I have already reported that area to Zendesk though, using a comparison from your video if that's alright. The area looked gorgeous, I hope they will restore it eventually.
