For convenience, here's the full set of Oceania trailer comparisons, with the corrected Mato Island. All areas were checked again about two hours ago.

So I’m not exactly sure why the water masks were removed if they looked great in a previous version?

For that matter, why was the night lighting changed?

You'd think these would be areas prioritized to make them look like the ads... we'd have to complain more quietly then

You should zendesk them this comparison to make them aware of what they are doing. I doubt the 3 guys in the streams use the sim and probably are not aware.

Considering that the Tonga water masks were removed, I think you are right that I should. We need to make sure they are aware existing water masks are being removed, in case it is an unintentional issue.

Just took off from Andros Island in the Bahamas and watermasks are present

Yes, it was one of the locations added with the 685KB update a couple of days ago, but others were removed too. Check out this thread from page 5 and onward, BijanStudio has posted several of the new and removed masks.

More in line with the "Tropical Water" thread, I did find some tropical water depicted in the Mexican Caribbean and Belize. A flight from MMCM to MMCZ  shows some nice scenery in Chetumal and Bacalar. Depart MMCM from RWY28 and head roughly 330 degrees until you are over Lake Bacalar. Follow the lake over the town of Bacalar, and turn back east over Chetumal Bay towards the coast, and go north towards MMCZ. The good scenery pretty much ends after Mahahual, and regardless of where you are, it looks like only the inland water looks good (Lake Bacalar and Chetumal Bay). Sian ka'an, for example looks pretty bad.

Well at least they look the same for you as they did when I checked them two days ago.

Where is the Timor Sea location?  I gave up trying to find it.

Put that in the search bar and it should create a custom departure over the spot where the screenshot is taken.

Hey your screenshot looks particularly bad, I've never seen those blocky cloud shadows on water.
Moorea looks pretty good here and would be great if it had the watermask updated to show the shallow waters.
It would be extraordinary if they used Google imagery 😀 🙃

You haven't seen the very blocky cloud impression on the water because you have reflections set to high or ultra. At medium or low you get what looks like a squared off jigsaw puzzle of cloud reflections. Awful.

That could well be it, however every guide I've read suggest to keep reflections at high or ultra given how little impact it has on performances.See this or this

If my old system can handle it, anyone can 😀

Unfortunately it happens at Ultra and High as well. It is not related to graphics detail but to low wind (0-3 knots).

It has been reported to Asobo but they have a long backlog of issues and take into consideration only those with more votes.

Ah ok, I stand corrected. But oddly I see less blockiness when I step up the reflections quality, though it doesn't look that much better. I hate to say it but even in FSX from a decade ago cloud/water reflections were a whole lot better than this.

Yes, with Steves DX10 fixer they were great.  Cloud shadows seemed more natural as well.  He put a lot of work into the DX10 fixer and it worked really well in the end - very atmospheric, if you excuse the pun! 😁

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
