March 6, 20215 yr Look at that, nothing for 18 hours so I make a post saying no one has actually bought it yet , only to find vgbaron posted literally 10 seconds beforehand saying he’s bought it ! 😂 787 captain. March 6, 20215 yr Commercial Member Still don't see any videos online, anyone find any? That's what I'm mostly waiting for along with reviews. I don't have any AH products, so I'm certainly keen on research first. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM

Never flew one IRL so I cannot speak to the flight model but she behaves quite nicely. Have to see about fuel tank management though, you are instructed to set tank to FUSE for takeoff and landing but it appears to me that fuel consumption is way too high. Could easily be user error but more documentation would be nice. Bottom line, I will continue to fly it and I sure like the 489kt cruise speed! 🙂 Vic Does it have a rain effect on the windshield? It's been a fun plane to fly! https://a2asimulations.com/product/a2a-rain-effect-for-p3dv4/ I'm thinking about this latest release. Hello Rmeier, thanks for the suggestion. I am currently using the plane in P3D 4.5, but it is driving me crazy. My biggest problem is that the engines just wither away about 20-50 nm into a flight, above 3-4000' altitude. If I start from cold and dark with ctrl-E, there is a chance that I can get through a flight, but very often fuel consumption just gets lower and lower and the airplane starts sinking. The engines remain running, they just do not produce enough power. That's with all tanks full. Did you ever encounter that problem? Thanks, Peter

I have the just flight HS 748 which is done by AH, and it looks and sounds nice, fantastic in fact, however it's missing some things which are really intrinsic to operating 748, mainly the fuel trimmers for the Rolls Royce darts , they're there but just don't do anything. The 748, like the saberliner , is listed as having Realistic and accurate flight dynamics based on real-world performance and handling data. I used to fly these crazy little turboprops into small strips on the side of hills in South East Asia when I was a young lad, and the flight model performance is a lot more like a jet than the turbo prop I remember so I'm a little dubious. I initially had no interest in this model but having just watched the Bob Hoover video I'm now quite intrigued as I do like the instrument set up in there, I'm also getting a strange desire to grow a mustache. I flew the HS748 for a year and 500+ hours in the 1990s. Used to do freight into 3000' of gravel....came out empty of course, lol. The JF one while not perfect is a nice place to go for a flight and "remember when".

I flew them around Indonesia on pax runs and then again back in the U.K. doing night freight. I agree with you, I think they’ve captured the sound of the darts Perfectly. I’ve flown it in VR and it does really take you back, I just remember the importance of those fuel trimmers and getting 755 degrees TGT , (if I remember correctly ) so I wish they’d been modelled. The JF flight model seems to go up like a rocket though, which I never remember the 748 being well known for ! 787 captain. This SOUNDS like the carb heat is off...of course this plane doesn't have that...but maybe it's still worth a try? hit H or Shift+H and see if the power comes back. The JF flight model seems to go up like a rocket though, which I never remember the 748 being well known for ! If I remember correctly we had 5 of the 2a and 1 2b. Only the 2B had an autopilot. Took me about 6 months to get the decent profiles on the money but it was a satisfying thing. On a warm day coming out of 3000' with some passengers and freight it would use it all. The company was fine with using wet takeoff power but as soon as safely able it would be pulled back to 14,750. Using 22 1/2 flap for take off would kill your 2nd segment but most places were flat so you could make it work.... It was my first larger aircraft and a great one to get experience on as you had to really get into the numbers. It was operated in passenger, freight and a combi. Company had runway analysis charts for everywhere the HS748 was operated even the short strips into native communities. I had a great captain I was lucky to fly with sometimes and doing freighters up into the arctic loaded to the proverbial nuts he'd fly up then give me the left seat to fly back empty......great confidence builder and you learn. He showed how a captain should mentor newbies. That airplane gave me a great foundation for the rest of my days. Still love the sound and have a great fondness for the airplane. I still enjoy the JF HS748 from time to time. Brings back good memories.....and others. Twice had hydrolic issues......once ILS to minimums, stopped it on the runway before the accumulator was empty, bussed the passengers to the terminal, got towed in. Good learning experience.
March 7, 20215 yr One of the features of turboprop planes in P3D/FSX that annoys me the most is the way that the start up procedure goes from "propellor just starting to turn" to "full speed" in seconds. I have just watched a YouTube clip of the start up of one of those Rolls Royce Darts on a HS748, and there are several different visual stages (and a couple of minutes) before they are spinning so fast that it looks anything like a circle. The same problem can also be seen during engine shutdown. I really wish that addon developers would spend a little more time on this, as it can be an immersion breaker right off the bat if you are observing the plane from an external viewpoint. Thanks, DImitrios, I will keep that in mind. I started to follow the full C&D checklist and the problem appears to be under control. I believe I did not switch on the manifold pressure valves. I will try your suggestion if I run into the problem again. Peter
