Aerosol Density

Featured Replies

In the MSFS weather settings there is an option called aerosol density.  More important to me though (because i use rex) its also in rex. Can anyone give me an example of what this does if checked on in rex and is it better/more realistic to keep it on or off?  Thanks so much.

Really? Never knew about this setting, when was it added and what exactly does it do?

As the name suggests, it's controlling the amount of particles in the air.

Unless you are flying the Starship with an Eighties hair metal band on board, in which case it'd be how much hairspray there would be in the cabin. 🤣

Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Since some time I fly with aerosol density around 2-2.5

Ir gives a more realistic horizon in the area that I mostly fly (VFR)

It also is a solution for the "tree distance" whiners.

Nice tip, shame you had to ruin it with your final sentence, many of us want realism and proper immersion in a Simulator...

The Aerosol setting is great, and is a welcome addition to the sim for those that like to play with these things (like me ).

However, "whiners" is a bit tough for the people who are not happy with the changes to tree distance (like me), when we had a perfectly good solution that worked before.

Wait until you post about something you think needs improving, then if someone calls you a "whiner", see how that feels.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Ok, your both right. I shouldnt have made the tree remark!

Has there been any good payware 720's? The only other civil air sim I have is FSX and I don't recall seeing one for it...

And not to be pedantic but no hair metal on this list (unless you count EJ 😂)

It was not added. It was there from the very begining.

proofs some people never look at the options, any new program i play thats the first i go, see all the options.

Meaning you dont fly with live weather ? Because you cant change aerosol density with live weather enabled. The slider is disabled.

Where I live live weather is often not VFR, I can imagine a lot of people use it but live is not important to me.

So does Gorilla spray glue. Although it is somewhat more permanent...

Meteoblue has aerosol optical depth under air quality & pollen tab.  I was just wondering if they didn't inject that off of meteoblue somehow with real weather.   Definitely would be some neat stuff if they did.

Does anyone know if they do inject the aerosol readings off of meteoblue real weather to the sim?
