LM's silence

Featured Replies

LM determines if and how they interact with their customers. And their strategy is no previews and no media hype on updates or new versions.

That being said : myself I certainly would like to see some updates or news on newer versions.
The last 2 months I fly MSFS only with the latest Prosim 737-800 preview version and I do nor experience any CTD.

The atmosphere around you “feels” more real than the one from P3D. And the PR terrain is sharper further in the distance than the PR terrain I have in P3D. The AG houses/houseblocks are way ahead than those in P3D. More trees than P3D. Clouds looking more real compared to the EA clouds.

P3D has a better SDK with better Simconnect which supports more features for cockpitbuilders like me.

Imho and I have stated it before : P3D needs a much more improved EA, a complete overhaul of the AG (to much space between trees or houses) and more PR terrain sharpness into the distance (became less with V4). Also features like car traffic are way too much load on performance and need an overhaul. And all this without the loss of too much performance as MSFS can do all this with higher FPS than P3D is able too.

FSDT has released their Swiss mesh with little too none terrain morphing for MSFS. That we need too in P3D.

The longer I fly in MSFS, the better it is starting to look, the more enhanced the SDK is getting , the more I will use this as my main program.

I really hope that LM can step up their game but looking at the past steps are very small and it takes so long to implement small steps.

One thing : comparing a vanilla MSFS to a vanilla P3D is only legit for someone who has stayed with P3D without any addons. Everyone of us flying P3D for many years has a completely changed sim and that is what we have as starting point to compare with MSFS...

I'm in a landslide with P3D for now fellas.

🎶Well I've been afraid of changes(MSFS) because I spent all my cash on you.
Before MSFS you we're bolder but now you look older,
     But I'm getting older too🎶

If Stevie Nicks was a flight simmer like us, I'm sure she'll agree.

Why should LM communicate? To keep users motivated to stay with P3D? That does not seem to matter for them.

It´s the users wish who seek a decision between to sims, because they can´t decide for one or the other or live with both.

OS=WIN11 Home, Sim=P3D5 5.3 (P3D4 and FSX for install reasons)

"Sim X" doesn't have water effects RIGHT NOW... but in a year?

What will P3D have in a year? No one can say, and that goes for both sims. So, I think there's really no sense in talking about that. Compare both sims and what they can offer in their current states, and in a year, we can reconvene and compare again.

In a year A will have a minimum of 12 updates and B has max 2.

So you can compare them every month....

That's why P3D remains my go-to sim, and why Sim X still just gets the occasional casual, experimental VFR spin here.  Sure, I'm still keeping my eye on Sim X, but it's nowhere near ready to produce the same kind of full-featured experience.

This should be pinned as motto on the top of this forum until at least Christmas 2021....

Wait what, so you know most of these add-ones are coming to MSFS eventually and obviously you are one of the hardcore MSFS simmers as I always see you very active in MSFS official fourms and you went ahead and poured thousands on P3D add-ones? I mean I get it you have no financial issues but, I don't know, it feels wrong to me 😅

I bought P3D v5 in Q4 2020 - until that I was an X-Plane and MSFS user. Now I only use P3D v5 and MSFS. Why did I do the switch?

1. MSFS was quite new so it didn't have airliners I love to fly. MSFS was released in 2020, PMDG stuff are still expected to come in 2022, I simply don't have 2 years to wait - life is simply too short to wait, especially for a student.

2. P3D v5 had a lot better airliners (737, 747, 777, A320, MD-80, Q400, ...) and looked significantly better than X-Plane, thanks to Enhanced Atmospherics.

Also, P3D does not require thousands of add-ons, especially since v5, so this is an outright exaggeration. There is freeware P3DWX, Ortho4P3D and out-of-the-box Enhanced Atmospherics, which gives a really good experience for free. Sure, you have to get payware airports, but I only have a few and they definitely didn't cost "thousands". I just recently got Orbx Global Base, openLC Europe and ASP3D. They immensely improved my experience, but they didn't cost "thousands" either.

Either case, maybe you shouldn't judge people based on their choices, no one has to go with whichever of the three simulators you believe is superior.

PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM.

Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.

LM just need to copy the clouds from MSFS and put it in Prepar3d, I will be a very happy customer then!

They are busy fixing what we report, a little bit more of patience.. 😉

Please report broken depth buffer in post-processing too. For some reason P3D gives a grayscale version of the color buffer instead of the depth buffer.

You have no idea how much I envy you mate.

I do and have to care about money, being an aged pensioner. I don't think, however you meant this as bluntly and precisely as it has come out. LOL

Cheers

Tony

Tony,

My pension will not stretch to updating my PC any more (and at 81 I'm not sure if it would be worth it!) So I am sticking with what I have and enjoying it.

If you make it to 101, you can still try Prepard3d V21 and MSFS 2040 😉

The MSFS cloud structures + P3D EA textures + AS weather = best clouds for a flightsim

There will be no MSFS 2040 only MSFS that MS Phil Spencer is funding for Game Pass and when it`s done then third party`s will take over AGIAN!.

PS new drivers working ok in P3Dv5.1 not tried MSFS lately.
