Aren't you planning a quick vacation soon....I hope it is this week lol Also P3D is critical sim for Enterprise Users - even PMDG acknowledges the importance of that....I just hope LM throws in Skunkwork level satellite imagery on the Sim (after all they did make SR-71 and countless other epic planes that we do not know about) Edited June 3, 20215 yr by Skywolf How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)

It's always been an issue, it's just that people on this forum circle the wagons whenever it comes up. And yeah, it's more important now because MSFS has shown how stagnant P3D's growth has been.

June 3, 20215 yr P3D has the complete experience at the moment, not just better plane models. GSX Level 2 for example, is very immersive, as well as camera tools like ChasePlane. MSFS will eventually catch up, but its not going to be for another year, in my opinion. The one thing MSFS does great, is multiplayer. Built in without having to run a third party app, and comes with fun aspects like leaderboards for challenges. I don't see P3D being able to match them in that regard, unfortunately.

GSX is coming soon to MSFS. ChasePlane is not really needed in MSFS once you get used to the default camera system. At first, an annoying learning curve but then later it gets easy to deal with. I get where that's big for gamers and the potential xbox market. But vatsim to me is the absolute best, and it doesn't really cause me much stress to have the vpilot window open on another monitor. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I do not believe for one minute that just because there is a new kid (a very good one) on the block, the sim you have loved in the past, suddenly becomes unplayable. Each of these platforms have its advantages and drawbacks. Those do not simply go away nor does the buckets of cash previously spent go away either. Eventually it will be spent again on the newbie. A simple fact of life. We are all chasing perfection and sadly, I do not believe we will ever achieve that in these sims. Can you imagine a perfect sim which will not be updated or upgraded because it is "perfect" I cannot and I am going to continue to enjoy each of these sims to their utmost. June 3, 20215 yr Author That depends on the update. Things I miss most? Aircraft and Ezdok cameras. And RealTurb.
June 3, 20215 yr Author I think the issue that kept most of us anchored to P3D was aircraft fidelity. Let’s take that away. Let’s take away GTN750 too. And cameras. And AS. NOW how does P3D stack up?
June 3, 20215 yr Steady as she goes. I do agree LR should be a little more forth coming on what its working on like the recent utube video on lighting. It appears they are actually going to work through the list we all contributed to some time back on what improve. As long as LR keeps knocking off that list of must haves to stay in the game, then no worries. And scenery enhancements are on that list pretty high up there. But, yes LR should do a little PR to remind everyone they are still in the game and that there improvements coming. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3

I purchased P3D in Jan of this year! There wasn’t anything I “loved” other than its reputation. It has lived up to a point where I invested multiple THOUSANDS of dollars into add-ons for it. But now what? It’s stupid to ignore MSFS and bury the collective head in adoration of P3D! As I said, aircraft fidelity is a major draw! But now that the same is coming to MSFS, how does DEFAULT P3D stack up against MSFS? I have both and would love to keep it that way as long as there is a good reason to do so. But LM isn’t helping this. Let’s not get stupid here - devs have turned away, buyers have turned away… How do we reverse this? Is there a way? Let’s forget Google Maps etc… let’s just talk basics. Can this old engine despite the patches live up to the requirements of this new era? Or is the jig up? Can LM pull a rabbit out and re-develop the core a bit? Or is the autogen stuck in decades-long dustbin? Can the weather match MSFS? Or DCS? (Mind you, I have never even installed DCS!)

NOW how does P3D stack up? Huh?? Why would I ever want to take away all the things that still make P3D a good all-around experience? I don't care how the default sims compare, I care about the best end state I can achieve using each. "What *can* I do today?" is the question, not what some future version of either sim might someday achieve. I've flown 12 medium-length legs in P3D during the last week, most with the new FSL Scarebus sharklet variants and a few with the PMDG 737 NGXu. Each time I loaded a current or historical weather scenario, planned the flight with the benefit of Activesky's accurate forecast departure, destination, and enroute winds and wx, started at a high-quality add-on airport with full GSX and SODE ground service support and populated with a wide variety of quality AIG-managed AI traffic, operated the flight from IFR clearance to taxi clearance at destination with Radar Contact's procedurally sound ATC, flew the entire profile using payloads, fuel loads, altitudes, speeds and power settings appropriate for the flight conditions as I would in a real acft, flew an arrival and approach (and a few missed approaches) with the arrival ceiling, vis, and winds as forecast, taxiied in and blocked in with full GSX ground service support. Error-free and pretty much flawless from start to finish all 12 times. Now try doing that in another sim, with whatever add-ons you can presently get your hands on (at any price) for that sim. That's why P3D remains my go-to sim, and why Sim X still just gets the occasional casual, experimental VFR spin here. Sure, I'm still keeping my eye on Sim X, but it's nowhere near ready to produce the same kind of full-featured experience.
