Couple of more obscure issues I didn't see mentioned in the notes, does anyone know if they've been addressed (I'm assuming not but maybe I missed something):

  • Undocked windows / panels flash when information text is displayed on the main view (and during some other screen draw operations)
  • HTML5 menus do not recognise keypresses when the window that the menu is displayed on is not focussed

I'll install this at the weekend, probably. I need to check that major add-ons are supported, or get the upgrades. EzDok will be a key one (I never got on with Chaseplane for... reasons) as well as GSX, and hopefully the FeelThere E-Jets will continue to work (albeit still unsupported on v5 at all), because that's what I'm flying right now. I assume someone will do the usual 'spreadsheet of working add-ons' tomorrow!

I wonder if mixing EA with 2D clouds would allow WX Advantage etc to finally work in EA mode? I mean, I don't want to lose 3D clouds, but unless I've missed an update, the only weather radar that worked in 5.1 with EA on was the ActiveSky XGauge - and I recall reading that this was hacked by using the 'classic' weather data under the hood, which apparently is still available in EA mode, and painting the radar return using that, which means the radar display doesn't accurately reflect the EA volumetric cloud positions that you can see out the window. Anyone know different?

It certainly looks promising... and if the VRAM improvements make 8GB cards properly viable again, that's a huge positive.

Some of the beta testers mentioned that they have been testing the PMDG Borings along with the update for a few months now with no problems.

I have just flown a test circuit with the NGXu, and worked and looked flawlessly. Will attach some pics later.

Opening an in-game Simconnect HTML5 menu ( like GSX ) recognizes keys without being on focus.

However, it works only if the Simconnect menu is docked so, for example, you are free to click on the main window, maybe to click something on the VC, and the Simconnect menu will still take keys.

If you undock the Simconnect menu window, it will only respond to keys if it's in focus.

Unfortunately 8GB VRAM is not enaugh for VR with 2048 textures and EA off (CTDs), it's high time to wait for normal graphic cards prices and buy something with more VRAM 😕

Another improvement to 5.2, is that particle effects now inherit the ambient dynamic lighting colors, as a result.. Contrails and many effects (when configured correctly) will adjust to the world lighting like the clouds.

Video example below, of immersion packages contrails and condensations taking advantage of this new feature:

Wow, the light contrails at night always bothered me. It seems to be a problem of the past now 😄

Does the 777 Immersion v2 require an update to take advantage of that or is it already compatible in the latest version? @simbol
