Yup, I talked ( and begged) the company to swap the AMD card it came with, for a Nvidia Card, which they finally agreed to do. I decided to let them do it ( along with a new PSU), to make sure it worked OK rather than me doing it and finding out there were other issues. Waiting to get it back, they are going to run it for a few days to make sure it is stable. The AMD card and driver combination , for me, was a disaster. Driver time outs sometimes after a few minutes. Edited June 10, 20214 yr by Bobsk8

Plus, my sense is users of XBox games are much more used to complete, standalone games, which is really what MSFS is very close to already. This add-on purchase mentality is a legacy holdover from FSX/P3D/XP and hardly applies any longer. We're just still grappling with the fact MSFS is so complete already it's mindblowing. Right now I look forward to FSCaptain coming on board, as well as Ground Services X which will potentially add something the sim doesn't do well already so add some real value. Ummm ever heard of micro transactions? Yeah, they're very well acquainted with them because almost every game launches with them these days and in some cases, they make companies way more than people buying the base game. The volume of new players bodes well for the marketplace to explode with transactions. I get what you're saying about MSFS looking good by default but I still ended up buying an add-on for one of my local airports. Don't get me wrong, the default version was miles ahead of what FSX offered but it wasn't quite there and the extra eye candy actually craving for it to be spot on even more! 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. June 10, 20214 yr Well I am pretty sure, there will be a lot of "hard core simmers" getting the Xbox version. All that is because of the annoying GPUs shortage. If it works like how it supposed to work in PC and they already said you can use mouse and keyboard as well with Xbox version, then why not just get it? Of course, you wont be able to use all these mods that we download but again, there are people just don't care about these mods as long that they can run the sim smoothly. That's possibly more inclined to make console players buy stuff rather than less. There's hardly a game out these days which doesn't have microtransaction add-ons available for it; it's a massive part of the culture and this is more than likely to have influenced the decisions in regard to the in-game market on the PC version of MSFS and a large part of what made MS go for making a new version of the sim in the first place. MS has historically always been annoyed by the fact that TPDs continued to make money off FS long after a copy of it was bought, whereas they saw themselves as facilitating the market but not benefitting from it over a long period. It's why they mooted the notion of online or in-game transactions back when they had a stab at MS Flight to resurrect the FS franchise, but they were somewhat scuppered by many third-part devs not being on board with the idea, a stance which initially also prevailed when Dovetail mooted the idea for FSW, whereby many developers also resisted that at first, but later got on board with. Unfortunately support occurred a bit too late in the day which prompted Dovetail to shelve FSW. That said, in the long run this was probably a good thing in terms of what base sim we ended up with, in that it was the complete from the ground up re-write of a sim rather than a the retread of FSX which both Flight and FSW were, but FSW was nevertheless an important step on the road in getting TPDs to accept the way the wind was blowing, to the point that now we see little resistance to an in-game market either via the store or via Steam ads, since although many were annoyingly slow on the uptake, they are now all aware of the massive economy of scale it opens them up to, and the massive advertising budget they become a beneficiary of. Of course MS takes its cut in order to facilitate that, but no TPD could never individually foot the bill for such widespread promotional benefits to such a large user base, so in the end they make more money even with that cut coming out of things, particularly if people buy direct by virtue of them having actually heard of those companies courtesy of that global advertising powerhouse. The advent of MSFS coming to XBox is a massive plus point for anyone into flight sims either as a user or a third party developer; it's gonna give it a nuclear-powered kick up the jacksie which will project it right into the limelight. While the default airports generated from satellite data are so much better than anything we got in FSX, getting a proper handcrafted airport is infinitely better than the default airport. For example, the default CYVR was nice as a starter. But when FSimStudio and FSDreamTeam came out with handcrafted CYVRs, it was just a whole new level above the default CYVR, like night and day. For this reason, I believe X-Box users who see a version of the airport is available in the MSFS marketplace and they also see how much better the handcrafted version is over the default version, if the handcrafted version is selling between $10 and $20 in the MSFS marketplace (which most airports sell for), I can see the X-Box user buying the handcrafted airport from the MSFS marketplace. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

If I go to Roman Design's CYOW I really need to dial back settings bigtime, so that becomes a very signficant part of the calculus. And heck, once I've never even come close to the real CYOW so alot of the detail will be somewhat lost on me.
