Common wisdom says no pain, no gain 😉.

More so with MSFS 😅

Anyway, I believe we're going to see the improved performance too, but probably not without some teething problems. I reckon for the time being they'll give the user a choice between DX11 and DX12, so you can switch back if your system doesn't work well with the new render path.

You said it, not me 😇 !

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

Yeah, so I'm definitely sticking with PC and I think most of you should do the same. As of now the XBSX is very limited in the amount of peripherals it supports. My TM Warthog would become a really heavy paper weight over night and VR is definitely out. Sure, the trailer looked good but there's no reason a PC with the right specs couldn't achieve the same visuals and we must remember optimization upgrades are coming in addition to having the graphics go beyond ultra settings.

I couldn't care for the console version but what I do care for. This is CLEAR Microsoft is NOT playing around and investing A TRUCK TON OF MONEY into this sim.

It's clear Microsoft wants their baby back and are breaking their back and bankroll to reestablish themselves and MSFS as the king/queen of simming. You can look at many other areas Microsoft is changing their old philosophy and reestablishing what made them such a recognizable name in the first place.  Game Pass is awesome, and Microsoft now has some sweet highly regarded exclusives again. It wasn't always pretty but it's VERY CLEAR Satya Nadella clearly isn't Ballmer. What he's done with Microsoft in 7 short years is beyond amazing

Appreciate your very well articulated response.

Do you know how much money (and guts) they had to invest to take an old outdated sim from 2006 (FSX) and say, you know what? This is going to be our flagship product again in 2021. Then, churn the product they did all still based off ESP, still working on, still hiring outside resources, literally hiring 3rd party developers to work on their product (WT), putting it on console and all the advertising, promotion, THE LIST GOES ON.  Microsoft didn't even put a fraction of this much effort into FSX. It was "just another version of MSFS" and left it out to dry..

THEY"VE SPENT TRUCK TON on this. It's almost one of those "Yep this is the hill we're dying on" situations.

MS has more resources than most countries.  This is just another fun (money making) project for them.  Yes loose change.

Only the second person ever to make my ignore list on AVSIM in nearly a decade.. Don't hurt yourself on that edge, you may cut yourself.

My RTX 2080 Super is DX12 capable - no reason to believe it wont work with MS2020 - no need to update card yet as far as I know

As someone who can see this from the inside now, I will say with absolutely crystal certainty that MS does not just throw around that level of high dollar investment like candy.

This is absolutely seen as a long term large investment in the community and in the technologies, all the way up to the highest levels of the company.

Do they know we are currently unable to follow ATC instructions on the ground because of that?

I can follow ATC instructions on the ground fine. What are you referring to specifically?

Phil Spencer`s future of MS game pass you will not need a PC or XBOX they are in talks with TV manufactures to steam it like Netflix, and try before you Games. Just buy a controller.

Streaming isn't going to replace the physical hardware, it will always be an optional service as not everyone has access to internet fast enough to play reliably.

Will never pass up a chance to say how much I love you guys. Your balancing act of providing your WT releases, while still on the other half doing work for MS all while showing no  signs of acting like you're "above everyone else" and walking around popping your collars isn't common. You guys are a diamond in the rough. Remember this. You guys are a class act and I highly appreciate your approach to this endeavor. Reminds me of the early internet days where no one really knew  what their goals were, but everyone was just as important as the other guy..    Keep doing you..

That's incredibly kind, thank you so much!

It's been humbling since the beginning to see how things have evolved, and I'm huge on people (and especially developers) not being arrogant unapproachable jerks. There are so many of them out there, and we don't need to be more of them. So, if you ever get a whiff of that from me, please smack me and let me know!
