Yes absolutely you want to showcase the best possible lighting, and indeed lighting is such a massive part of why visuals are so much better in MSFS over the competition. To illustrate your point, no movie production just randomly walks outside and yells “roll camera”. Reality is often (as Noel says) quite boring. Cinematographers get paid a lot of money to frame/crop/relight the world into something we find beautiful enough to pay money to see. MSFS perfectly simulates this phenomena 🙂 It’s possible they did color correction of the material, but I think it’s equally likely they just selected angles, compositions, and times of day that best show off the sim’s virtual world.

And I fail to see what effects you see on the marketing video we don't have on the actual simulator. The stuttering, mountain morphing and piercing set at zero, I can't find the sliders in the settings menu of my version of the sim 🙂 Edited June 16, 20214 yr by MrFuzzy 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

Hopefully the DX12 version of the sim they are displaying has managed to alleviate some of that. What is 'piercing' though? Was that a bit of the autocorrect for something else? I always thought that it was a botched rendering of streams as they most often follow the slope. I’ve seen less of them recently though.
