I'm huge on people (and especially developers) not being arrogant unapproachable jerks. There are so many of them out there, and we don't need to be more of them.

This should be the calling card for MSFS 2020.. Every single one of you reading this knows this hits home right in the chin.

This quote alone should be sticked at the top of this forum and become the law of the land.. Enough is enough of exploiting flight simmers and treating them like trash in the name of $$$ because "So what? They're still going to buy it"

Another issue for me: as far as I can tell, based on my research the xbox consoles do not support ultra wide displays, for example 21:9 without stretching.

Spot on. The WT and FBW guys have been a complete breath of fresh air to MSFS and the flight simming community in general.

Direct X 12 will be released for PC before or at the same time as the X-Box release. The reason is, if it's released at a different time, then MSFS will run on a different set of code for the X-Box and PC.  Asobo does not want a different set of code for the X-Box and PC because that doubles the complexity of testing, and doubles the complexity of patches.

I am 99% sure X-Box and PC will have the same code set, because Asobo wants to avoid managing different branches of code.  And this has been Asobo's plan all along as per the Twitch Q&A's. And I say this from my experience as a software developer.  Managing different branches of code is a nightmare, especially if you have two different sets of code for production software.

I'd imagine this why Asobo are doing some Flight Testing some time in the near future, I'd imagine that it's possible that DX12 testing could be part of testing to see how stable MSFS is with that tech. Plus they've stated that the flight testing is running on it's own Steam branch so it's 100% separated from the released version.

That's incredibly kind, thank you so much!

It's been humbling since the beginning to see how things have evolved, and I'm huge on people (and especially developers) not being arrogant unapproachable jerks. There are so many of them out there, and we don't need to be more of them. So, if you ever get a whiff of that from me, please smack me and let me know!

And if I ever get to meet you at somewhere like Cosford, a few beers are on me, thanks for being so humble.

I have a SeriesX but don't see myself using it much for MSFS. For starters I would have to buy the Hub from Honeycomb for my Alpha and Bravo and HOPE that it will convert my Saitek pedals also.My PC and my xBox play through the same 32" monitor so there is no gains either way there.

I do have a question though. I see that it says that the console version is available for preload and I have the Digital Ownership, so it should be Play Anywhere. But I cannot find where to click on the Preload.

They said that ray-tracing will come after DirectX 12 in a more recent Q&A. Anyway, the reflections in this trailer are still screen-space.

I thought they said they are still looking in to it, IIRC.  They more or less grimace at it, when it's brought up...lol.  It does seem like a possibility though.

It is such a unexpected fortune to have Microsoft returning to our hobby. It is more than a miracle that Microsoft selected Flight Simulation as their strategic Business Case for the consumer market to showcase all their new technologies from Azure, Bing, XBox, etc. And it is a masterpiece how Jörg and Team managed to bring this ecosystem onboard delivering what we have so far in the first year after release.

The latest Xbox trailer is great, the Top Gun Announcement is the cherry on the top of the cake.

I am nothing than stunned how people who love this hobby can complain on "their" missing features or "their" expectations for a MS Flight Simulator - even in today's world, where everybody just spits out criticize on twitter.

Jörg invited us on a 10 year journey - what a fantastic outlook!

Indeed!!

MS surely has alot of effort in MSFS, to that there is no doubt.  One cannot assume that MS is so misguided that they would let a single game take down the enterprise.  I also assume that is a known.

In any case, alot of fun exists in the future for us poor lowly flight simmers and big thanks to MS for taking  up the flight sim mantle in such a grand fashion.
