July 27, 20214 yr I landed at Shanghai a couple days ago in the middle of the typhoon just for fun. Had 70knot crosswinds on the way down to final, though by the time I got to 1000feet it was down to 15-20 (which was roughly accurate from what I could see online) with near zero visibility in some places. The FBWA320 autoland did an amazing job straightening out at the end and landed nearly perfectly . Sure I probably broke a few laws, and I think if I had damage turned on I might have over stressed the aircraft. But it was FUN. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/673313323965480974/868619264586817657/unknown.png https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/673313323965480974/868621137016414238/1250410_20210724192841_1.png https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/673313323965480974/868621482664800256/1250410_20210724192857_1.png the point of this post is that the weather feels pretty great to me. Also, they are planning a weather system overhaul sometime over the next year. So weather updates are coming eventually. Edited July 27, 20214 yr by Tuskin38

Look what developers (e.g. Working Title with the Garmins) can do once they have access to the needed SDK data ! We would already have "perfect" weather if ASOBO would swallow some pride and allow Damien (HiFi Sim) access the needed SDK data for weather. I keep hearing PRAISES for Meteoblue et al.... GIMMEE A BREAK !!!!!! Quote

Secondly, having purchased and flown EVERY VERSION of HiFi Simulation's weather add on (many different titles) since 2004, I feel I'm entitled to my opinion. You can have your opinion and I respect that ( AND I'm not joking) 🙂 Quote

You can have your opinion and I respect that ( AND I'm not joking) 🙂 Flying HiFi thru multiple versions of the FSX/ESP/P3D sims, I never had had the wind in the sim differ from the real world METAR by more than a fraction, both in direction and speed. I routinely have the wind at airports in MSFS be anywhere from 30 to 100 degrees out of sync with METAR and speed almost never matching even if the direction is close. I fly almost exclusively in the SW USA, California/Nevada/Arizona. This area has some of the best METAR coverage in the world. Love MSFS weather all you want, but if the wind on the runway doesn't match METAR, it is not real world weather. Thanks @vcarlo HiFi isnt perfect perfect but I agree its better than MSFS default where I sim. July 27, 20214 yr The biggest issue still outstanding for me is the inconsistency of weather at airports matching the current real world METAR. As I understand this they use a blend of the metar plus the metroblue modelling but there still a good number of times where the weather in sim does not resemble the metar at all. Not always, but enough that it’s not reliable to plan using real world metars. No doubt the weather system is powerful, just needs some tweaking. July 27, 20214 yr Totally unrelated, but if anyone is interested someone posted the weather preset from FS2020's Halloween activity flight. For those who missed the event, it had beautiful, angry, skies. https://flightsim.to/file/2620/halloween-creepy-weather-preset

The clouds are beautiful and the atmospherics are realistic. But that's only two components of weather. The weather changes are smooth, but unfortunately the actual conditions sometimes do not match real world conditions. Is that a deal breaker? Not for me, but it is an annoyance. Without making weather functions available to 3rd party developers, the eye candy will predominate and aviation weather will continue to be hit or miss.

GIMMEE A BREAK !!!!!! However it is not clear that it is Metroblue as opposed to the timing and methods to render the Metroblue weather in the sim. It may instead be on Asobo. I have also perceived that differences in satisfaction may exist based on experiences from world region to world region. July 29, 20214 yr Good luck! Meteo Blu sucks donkey balls and Asobo signed a exclusivity contract with them so ActiveSky and others won’t have full access to the weather API for the foreseeable future…
