July 29, 20214 yr Not surprised at all that it's those particular States that have these draconian regulations. Fortunately, there are 44 other States to live in, or flee to, as tens of thousands have been doing for some time now. July 29, 20214 yr It is inconsequential as the law doesn't prohibit custom builds or after market customs, most gamers are custom builders and will max out regardless of local laws Edited July 29, 20214 yr by Matthew Kane Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

July 29, 20214 yr Yeah its utter nonsense. It only applies to standby power, and doesn't impact custom builds at all. And more powerful PC's have a higher sleep power consumption allowance to accommodate them. And of course nothing wrong with limiting standby or sleep power consumption. People who write these articles should get their facts right. It's not draconian at all. It's common sense to keep power consumption low when a PC is in standby mode and you haven't turned it off. July 29, 20214 yr At the moment it is only standby power but like all other electronic gadgets the max power will be looked at, your bulbs and white goods must meet a certain legal requirement. No surprise California is the first they cannot keep the grid working 24/7 and power cuts have been the result, and they have spent the most on green power. You cannot put a deadline on the combustion engine and leave other industry's consuming more and more power, and PC builders saying you need at least 1000w PSU`s to run the latest GPU. Raymond Fry.

These things have always been looked at and standards applied. If you mean required power output under load will be dumbed down thus compromising performance then there's no evidence at all that's the case. In addition, it would be totally unworkable. It would be comromising all new tech with a higher power requirement. It would be compromising further advances in CPU, GPU and other technology that requires more power. (What will happen is what's been happening for a very long time, "efficiency" will be sort) Clearly not going to happen. It would be sabotaging advances in the tech industry. People are panicking about absolutely nothing and speculating worst case scenarios without evidence. Edited July 29, 20214 yr by martin-w

You cannot put a deadline on the combustion engine and leave other industry's consuming And the performance of those combustion engines, despite being "looked at" is higher than it was in the past. And the electric cars replacing the gas cars have even greater performance and power output. LED light bulbs you mentioned too, have the same light output (performance) as in the past, just more efficient. We've had 80+ Gold PSU's, Platinum and Titanium PSU's, power saving CPU features and a drive for more efficient PC's for a very long time. Performance hasn't been compromised. Don't panic about nothing people. "The man" isn't going to take away our beloved kit or turn it into a shadow of its high frame rate generating self.
July 29, 20214 yr This product cannot be shipped to the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Vermont or Washington due to power consumption regulations adopted by those states California also requires a warning sticker stating that gaming causes cancer. Here in Southern Illinois (sort of like South Dakota, only not as official and with more trees and water) most of us have atomic-powered computers but we're too far from Chicago for anyone to even know we exist. Thank God.
