I'm getting a lot of cca. 5 second pauses after this update. I just made a 3 hour flight and I got about 10 of those. This wasn't happening before in my case.

Do you have global ship traffic installed?

Tried the update and done two flights with no CTDs.

Also, having now switched the cockpit controls to legacy and turned off all labelling, I'm pretty sure there is hardly any pop-in. I'd like to say none at all, but I spotted a little bit -- well, it was more like draw-in -- barely noticeable and distant.

Now we have this hot fix, I'm really enjoying the sim update.

It's running much better. Performance gains are certainly noticeable in that I can now increase the resolution above 1080p and still get decent performance -- although I'm still happy with 1080p.

I think the clouds look even better: More varied cloud structures; better, brighter sunlight reflection.

Overall, everything looks sharper and more detailed to me.

I used to get terrible aliasing around the Cessna 152 cockpit control panels since maybe the second sim update. It seems to be more like the launch version of the sim, or pretty close, for anti-aliasing quality.

And the new world map is a huge improvement, being able to see satellite imagery and place names.

Not had any problems with any other update, now I can’t even update. Launch sim tells me I need to update, go to windows store, takes me to Xbox app then just says “play” tried resetting and closing app but no joy

Disagree. Forums are also a place to interact as a community and offer ideas and be positive. The general consensus is that SU5 has been administered poorly.

The general consensus of the people with problems flocking to threads is that SU 5 is the plague. I have been flying for two days with double (?) performance and I have never seen that many people in the air. Wherever I chose to take off there are people nearby in the air.

Yes - I did have problems launching VR before disabling sleep mode of the light houses and HAGS with resulting CTDs that are odd. I could not get FBW to run without CTDs unless using the Experimental version. I did empty my Communities folder before the first flight. Maybe people that are facing problems here might have not done that, or have packages from 18 year old developers releasing word not allowed on the marketplace that is not working right now - but will in a couple of days? Or have rigs that can't handle heavy load on GPU / CPU? Can they even do Prime95 at stress test load for a night or have they been playing with overclocking without bothering to test if it works under real stress like a game that pushes the boundaries like MSFS?

Yes, in fact I do. Is this the culprit?

I'm sorry, no idea how this was posted three times.

It can cause pauses. They say they will be gradually updating it.

I had tried all of that for the last 6 hours and it never showed the Update button. But I figured a way to fool it. Rename the Directory where MSFS is installed, then click Uninstall in the xBox App, Change the install Dir back to original name, then click Install in the xBox App. Took just over 2 minutes from start to finish and I now have 1.18.14.0 installed. Only thing that worries me is the In-Game update was only something like 904k. But the game loaded up just fine. I closed it out to come and post I finally got it and now will set up my "Stuff" on my desk and go check things out and see if it helped me any.

OK great

Yeah. The FBW CTDs. But so do a lot of others. Broken planes abound.

So it's Asobos fault that a mod is not working? I am pretty sure that any serious devs have been invited to the beta like PDMG that released a fix for their DC-6 the moment that SU-5 was released. Yes - the stable and dev versions of FBW cause CTDs but experimental works fine. Whose fault is that?

Has the bug where the aircraft would route to the last waypoint it flew over when you entered an approach into the MCDU been fixed?

I came into Gatwick, got told to join the ILS 26L via WILLO transition, which I entered and the plane just carried on going towards its new approach.  Fantastic, or just a one off?

It appears to me the 'weaknesses' in the general appearance of the patched scenery before today's fix have been very greatly reduced. Framerates after the fix are better than before the patch, but not as good as they were yesterday. I don't see major issues at all. Framerates increases were 70% on my system, now they are about 40%. But the popping is almost completely eliminated everywhere. Yesterday you would see the late scenery load on most every snap view right or left. Today there is usually none, and if there is any it is only tiny bits, not large areas.

Giving a letter grade for the performance update + patch = A.

I think part of the reason with the CTDs are that the sim is now optimized for Xbox with only two sets of hardware.

On the PC side there are a million combinations of different hardware and software.

Cue the conspiracy theories:  "Microsoft created this on PC to hook people in, then deliberately broke the PC version in updates once people got addicted to it, so they'd have no choice but to buy a brand-new, pricey Xbox to be able to keep playing it!"

Well - I am having a great time with SU 5 at least... Just took of from Denver and heading for the mountains in my trusty DC-6 from a developer that had a zero day patch for the changes implemented in the latest patch. Almost 100 FPS with all on Ultra on a 1440p monitor and it is silky smooth on my Index in VR that I use accept when taking screen shots... CPU at 65 degrees and GPU at 80 degrees (C). Could not be better! And as always - the skies are filled with people after SU 5.

An anecdote - my mother in law was a flight attendant with SAS in the 60:ies. Over the alps in a DC-6, engine 4 lost a prop blade that hit engine 3. So in 2 seconds they lost both engines on one wing. She was in the cockpit when it happened and the very cool ex airforce captain said: wow - I have never heard of anyone managing to land a DC-6 with both engines on one wing out - interesting challenge! They realized that it could not go straight and there where mountains all around. So in a forced circle they managed to land in Switzerland without any damage. When landing he smiled at her and said: "We only get one try baby!". The sixties 🙂

Click on the image for better resolution. Looks better in game naturally.
