In my opinion, I think it's a perfectly-reasonable expectation that, after almost a year, a $100+ simulation would have had most of the major bugs ironed out, not severe new ones released every month. I also think it reasonable to expect not having to fear getting a forced update, and wondering if you'll be one of the unlucky ones in the "Configuration Lottery" to have that forced update render the sim unplayable, while others are crowing about how it fixed all their problems and now it's "smooth as butter" and "oh boy does it look purdy" -- knowing that it's a toss-up whether your particular system's problems will ever be deemed worthy of a new fix, when so many other people are happy with it. (Frankly, in a game that requires regular forced updates, I think it should be company policy for users whose installs get broken by the update to be able to get a full refund, just as they could if it wouldn't run when they first purchased it.) Just took of from Denver and heading for the mountains in my trusty DC-6 from a developer that had a zero day patch for the changes implemented in the latest patch. Almost 100 FPS with all on Ultra on a 1440p monitor and it is silky smooth on my Index in VR that I use accept when taking screen shots... CPU at 65 degrees and GPU at 80 degrees (C). Could not be better! And as always - the skies are filled with people after SU 5. An anecdote - my mother in law was a flight attendant with SAS in the 60:ies. Over the alps in a DC-6, engine 4 lost a prop blade that hit engine 3. So in 2 seconds they lost both engines on one wing. She was in the cockpit when it happened and the very cool ex airforce captain said: wow - I have never heard of anyone managing to land a DC-6 with both engines on one wing out - interesting challenge! They realized that it could not go straight and there where mountains all around. So in a forced circle they managed to land in Switzerland without any damage. When landing he smiled at her and said: "We only get one try baby!". The sixties 🙂 That was a true professional. I wonder what a 20 something would do? July 30, 20214 yr Okay gotta say this but this my first time facing CTDs a lot since release. Somewhat it reminds me of X-Plane vulkan beta. I saw in other YouTube video, one guy was having CTDs a lot after SU5 and it turns out a livery was causing this. In my case, CTDs are just random and not always reproducible. I will continue investigating. But somewhat, I feel we are back to August last year 🥴 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display

For whatever reason you only quoted that part of my response, “The patch notes were available 24 hours ago. Manage your expectations, it help with general and understandable frustration” If you re read my post, Im only referring to updates and patch notes, where I even mention “understandable frustration” absolutely nothing about anyone’s general issues or problems with the sim. I myself have many issues with it, but I’m referencing many peoples anger than many issues weren’t fixed, even though it wasn’t included in the patch notes. July 30, 20214 yr Lots of people talking about that they nerfed MSFS in SU 5 so that it looks like FS9. I really have to find my 3.5 inch disks and a floppy to install it again. I do not remember Denver looking this cartoony and pixelated in FS9 but I might be getting old? And only 92 FPS? We sure had more in FS9? And that pixelated blur might as well be a Connie or a Stratocruiser instead of a DC-6 for what I could tell... July 30, 20214 yr I do note an apparent change in the lighting....... For the first time in I don't know how long, I activated photogrammetry today out of curiosity, and instantly noticed that the unrelenting "greyness" of it was noticeably altered by the updated lighting..... into something that actually had a bit of color to it. I kind of approve. I also note that something people spent an awful lot of time complaining about last time I looked: Photogrammetry turning into shapeless blobs even at relatively close distances..... Seems much reduced. Edited July 30, 20214 yr by HiFlyer We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. July 30, 20214 yr Been off the thread a couple of hours to test the Hotfix properly. So far, all is fantastic for me. Absolutely no CTDs, very smooth and fast through the menus and UI, no long pauses, no stutters. I am seeing a little bit of pop-in, but I'm a TrackIR user and I think we "provoke" the pop-in more. The sim is probably the best it's been since release, for my experience now, but here are the "fun detractors" still existing in MSFS for me (most aren't SU5 related):- Man, I hate that thing where the sim pauses and the logbook pops up, as soon as you turn off the engines/avionics... the biggest immersion killer in the whole sim. They got to make that optional!! AP control is still hit and miss; especially with mods. With none of the WT G1000/3000 mods (nor the new NXi) can I get any plane using them to perform an ILS. With the WT-G1000, the LOC and GS will not capture, if you're in Heading mode (and that's where you usually are before an ILS capture!). With the NXi, LOC and GS will capture successfully, but the planes just wander off miles to the right of the localizer on AP. So if I expect to use ILS, it's either the stock G1000 or non-G1000 planes for me at the mo. The fact that FLC does not capture at the current speed (it captures at '0' kts - how handy!), is a real pain too. LOD: Yep, just as many have noted in this thread, it's nothing like it was in beta. (SU5): I have definitely noticed a slight blurring of the cockpit, compared to pre-SU5. I am seeing this in any plane. It's noticeable by the text on the panel. I haven't changed my Texture Resolution (High) but visually, that's how it looks; lower resolution. But all things considered, the sim is running, looking and sounding great. Oh yeah, as a die-hard XP11 fan I have to say, MSFS sounds - including default aircraft - are way ahead of anything I've seen in any previous flight sim. They're beautiful! The rattles and creaks, generally good engine sounds, etc. I hope those who are having major stability problems can get sorted out soon. Here's my main environmental factors : Hyperthreading OFF, No OC, No Process Lasso, Latest Nvidia drivers, No NI, Threaded optimization off in Nvidia Control Panel, MSFS settings are 50/50 between medium and high. I have a i7 3.8Ghz and a modest GTX 1070 Ti. Generally seeing 40-50 FPS in the sim. July 30, 20214 yr I’m personally quite happy with the update. Really smooth in VR - was able to push LOD to 200 for objects and 150 for terrain while running most things on high and render at 100% on a G2. I see the pop ins people have been talking about but honestly it’s not that distracting - it occurs near the edge of visibility and only with a fast head turn (in VR). What does disappoint me a bit are water reflections. The water in MSFS always amazed me - looked very real and performed well. With this update the reflections dance around in a very distracting way as if they are being calculated from earlier frames. In VR this is exacerbated because it wobbles slightly differently in each eye. Is anyone else seeing this? There is also a visible line separating the reflection from the shore. It wasn’t this way in SU4. I’ll put in a Zendesk, but was curious if it was just my setup or if others are seeing it too. Overall I’d weigh the update as a net positive. There are some minor annoyances but it’s nice to have smooth frame rates.
