I can see why Xbox has a big advantage.  There is no OS overhead. Its dedicated to the game you are running period.   Everyone has the same configuration on Xbox.  The PC configuration is so vast. Not to mention windows itself. Even if you think you are closing down alot of background apps in windows, there is still alot of stuff going on in the background. Its not necessarily MSFS fault for some of these issues.   Still have no major issues so far since resetting windows completely compared to before. Might be worth considering if you havnt done it in a long time.  Tedious , but may well be worth to consider. And reinstalling MSFS and then adding back mods, is far far easier than doing it for P3D.

It's my understanding that it is unfortunately impossible to mod the weather in FS11

Not sure where you got that info.  Live weather has been provided by REX and Unreal Weather Mod for months until SU5 broke them !

Hotfix installed.

FBW 320nx installed.

Select aircraft fbw320nx, select flight... loading and...... CTD.

I'm out.

People complaining about temps now? That's good in my book. Your rigs should have cooling enough to handle Prime95 pushing all threads at 100% for a full night. Have done that for many years when building new rigs. A lot of people seem stuck in the old paradigms of Core 2 Duos and 580 GPUs. I have no problem at all with my 3080 reaching 80 degrees Celsius while pumping 80 fps over Manhattan at ultra settings...

Doesnt the A320 FBW need an update for the patch?

Yeah. The FBW CTDs. But so do a lot of others. Broken planes abound.

They are probably talking about those 80 degrees at FL 360, not on the GPU...

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

XBOX is basically Windows, though it is more optimized. That said, most background tasks use a miniscule amount of CPU/Disk these days, A/V software  being the biggest offender. Remember how fast our CPU's are now, most background tasks aren't even really using 1% even though it reports it that way, the WMI / SNMP or whatever is polling the CPU info isn't exact, as Windows itself is reporting that and it depends on the threading model to how much CPU something is really using behind the covers. It gives you a general idea.

A lot of the problems are USB and just software variations / config mods, but some of it is people have heating issues. So in that sense XBOX has a big advantage of being the same between every machine and not having been custom built/installed by a user, but replicated at a factory.

Flying over Athens in Multiplayer. I am loving it!

The 152 mod is highly recommended.

I get so much screen tearing with VSync off, wonder why?  It has always been this way with MSFS.  Using a 42"  4K TV.

Updated my post for you that use the freezing point of brine as a reference 😉

I too think it's part of the optimization for GPU. That being said, MSFS definitely pushes my temps up higher than any other game I own. I'm running my card is Silent Bios which maxes the fans at 70%, and then it's thermal throttling at 85C. I experimented with MSI Afternburner a bit, and settings a tighter fan curve and lowering max temp to 80C worked fine. With that profile it's running at about 75C with 100% fans.

But when it comes to GPUs, I think the fans are the weakest link. The cards are made to run at 85C with no problem, but running fans at 100% will deteriorate the ball bearings and all the other stuff much more rapidly. So I'm going back to 70%.

Are you loading the Dev version?  Stable is NOT compatible.  Per FBW. Dev works great for me. I wrapping up a 120 min flight descending into Minot AFB for the Rwy 12 ILS.

So far, II t has been an uneventful flight. Nominal.

For me GPU temps are ok but CPU temps occasionally get very toasty.

i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

I'm not getting offered the update when I start up - purchased on Windows store, I'm based in the UK - anyone in the UK not getting the update?

I know this won't be a popular view, but if I was getting CTDs I would completely remove MSFS and all addons and see if the problems persist with a reinstall, if they do - reinstall Windows and reinstall MSFS without addons - still seeing problems?

If not, add the addons back one by one (ensure the provider says they're compatible with this update)

I appreciate it's a lot of work, but this would be my attempt to resolve rather than just posting on a forum that it's not working as there is an almost infinite number of applications and hardware that just might not like in place upgrades over and over
