I see now that I merely move all of that into my Add On folders and sub folders...then having a physically empty C.F. Then, the program uses link references. I see that now. That was not (at least to me) very clear in the PDF...that you have to MOVE all those files now into your created Folder/sub folder set up. Cheers! What I also thought was the use of this program, was to automatically source out any updates from the web and download them. I see that that is not what this program does, and you still have to manually go and 'see what if'. Also, I see that any Orbx expects to see physical Orbx files in your C.F. so they still have to be physically in your C.F. Edited August 15, 20214 yr by Sesquashtoo
August 15, 20214 yr There is another program, I think called MSFS Updater or something like that which will allow you to update many of the most popular mods without having to go look for files yourself. Actually Mitch, if you install the Orbx products to an outside library, Orbx will just put a link in the CF and not the physical files. Also, if you ever have to delete your CF, just go into Orbx Central help and click Sync files and all will be restored. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

I just moved my Orbx library from my C drive onto my other NVMe drive (same one as MSFS) as it was taking up too much space, and I just had to 'verify' all my files individually to get them to put the shortcuts back into the community folder. Took a while! Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. August 15, 20214 yr The best thing about linker is you can save presets. For example if every Tuesday you fly with friends and the flights are always in California and always in the CRJ or DC6 you could save a preset that only loads your Californian scenery and the CRJ and DC6 and nothing else, and load that preset every Tuesday before going flying in multiplayer. Just curious - so you keep having to exit & restart the game if you want to fly in a different scenery area with different planes? I much prefer putting up with the long load time and have everything available once in game.

Same, albeit loading times might be a tad bit longer, but it doesn't bother me so much. There's not much of a difference in load times between a clean and empty community folder vs one with a ton of add-ons. At least not on my system. Agreed, the idea of enabling just certain areas of the the world and only certain planes does not appeal to me at all. Yes the load times can be a drag but I make a coffee, come back and then I have everything loaded. I can see ONE area where such a feature would be useful - troubleshooting. If you have tons of mods and its not clear which ones are misbehaving you could enable maybe 10 at a time to see when the CTD happens then narrow it down slowly. You can do the same without the Linker but I guess it makes it easier (I dont use it). I noticed the same as you btw, not a very big difference between full on Community folder vs empty one. August 15, 20214 yr Yup, what would be great is if the mod allows dynamic loading/disabling of the addons we need on the fly, without having to quit and restart the sim.
