I hope they add a brightness and bloom slider too for those of us using SDR monitors/TVs to take away the over bright cartoon effect introduced in SU5

Plus for those of us using a VR Reverb. While I can live with brightness on my 2D screen, display on my VR Reverb 1 (as I read, other VR devices, too) is much too bright and all my attempts to cure this failed so far.

Kind regards, Michael

LOD popping is nostalgic for some, reminds them of FSX.

🙄 Nice snark.

Some people prefer performance over perfect visuals.

Has nothing to do with 'nostalgia'.

If I read the comments here, it will most likely take another year or two until there is positive attitude towards MSFS in the community again. good enough to read the topic headlines for a very long time…

I'm not sure of that: if the upcoming update solves most bugs introduced with SU5, and if we see sliders to make use of advanced hardware beyond XBox limits, I think we can trust them to solve the residual problems with the updates to follow.

From that moment on, the main point is never to cripple the program again in order to meet a deadline, because that kills customers' trust.

So this is a very important update. The fact that they pushed it back tells me that they know.

It's terrible after SU5. You really see it if you look at small towns or forests at above 8000 feet. I sent in a Zendesk about it right after SU5 was foisted upon us, and never heard back from them. I think they put it on "ignore".

Have you tried maxxing anisotropic filtering in NVCP? It helps a bit with this.

Not denying there are many (not unreasonably) negative attitudes, but there are also many positive ones. And we're all here, sharing our highs and lows with the sim. Seems even people with very negative experiences think there's something worth hanging around for.

Is DX12 still on target for 2021.

Probably find out in the next Q&A.

“Offscreen terrain pre caching” is a bit unclear to me. Obviously, this refers to looking around. However, I doubt they will pre-cache scenery in Africa while I'm flying in Germany, although formally it's offscreen as well.

Kind regards, Michael

LOL It's caching the scenery visibie around the plane!🤣 Never mind Michael it's been a long day!

Did you try setting colour grading back to 0 in the VR settings in UserCfg.opt?

According to the feedback snapshot then yes still on course for a 2021 release. Personally I hope they do something about reflections in water as that is really offputting in VR, not tied to DX12 persay but something I hope they address.

Perfect. Something learned. I preferre to wait 2 weeks insteat of having troubles for 2 weeks !!

-“Offscreen terrain pre caching” graphics settings has been added (Low, Medium, High and Ultra). If set to Ultra, all the offscreen terrain will be cached at full quality which will reduce FPS drops and LOD popping when panning the camera but may impact overall performance
-Maximum photogrammetry draw distance has been further increased. As a result, photogrammetry of downtown building areas will be visible from farther away

Does this mean we can dial back our Terrain and Objects LOD down to 100/200 (for those of us who are currently using higher LOD values above 200)? Or how do these new sliders play with our current LOD sliders? Curious to know about that.

I just want my mouse cursor back during flight.  Is that too much to ask?

I still have mine. Do you have any controllers or anything plugged in?

Yes I did, but I still find colors washed-out compared to those on my 2D screen (where I use color grading 1). I tried numerous suggestions but none of them actually works under VR. I don't think it needs a miracle as modifying colors shouldn't require extra performance.

In this respect I would *love* to see the three HDR sliders we have under Prepar3d.
