August 19, 20214 yr Seems they never mention the "shimmering" of small towns and trees. I have a feeling we are stuck with it courtesy of SU5.

Halo MCC, which is also a Microsoft product, has simultaneous Steam and MS Store testing. MSFS testing might be more complicated because of the way the files are distributed. August 19, 20214 yr “Offscreen terrain pre caching” graphics settings has been added (Low, Medium, High and Ultra). If set to Ultra, all the offscreen terrain will be cached at full quality which will reduce FPS drops and LOD popping when panning the camera but may impact overall performance I assume that when the setting comes the default is what its currently set at and if we want to increase we can - as one of the mid range PC's I pretty much want to keep it where its at - LOD popping and all.

LOD popping is nostalgic for some, reminds them of FSX.

I would be greeting that feature, it works pretty well for X-Plane and AeroflyFS2, only to name flight sims. August 19, 20214 yr I hope they add a brightness and bloom slider too for those of us using SDR monitors/TVs to take away the over bright cartoon effect introduced in SU5 Also please fix the shimmering/AA and bring back SU4 quality of clouds. Edited August 19, 20214 yr by steve310002

August 19, 20214 yr Just now, Ianrivaldosmith said: Unless I missed something, this was only under investigation in VR? Didn’t realise it affected 2D so badly too It's terrible after SU5. You really see it if you look at small towns or forests at above 8000 feet. I sent in a Zendesk about it right after SU5 was foisted upon us, and never heard back from them. I think they put it on "ignore".

I would call it fleshing out the software. The good news is that there is captured data that can be acted upon unlike in the past. Onward and upward bs But of course some of the ctds are always hardware or settings related: it's a statistical necessity, you don't even have to convince me of that! But when many people who know very well their PCs, do not overclock, do not use exotic settings or addons, and never had a ctd before the update, suddenly experience a series of mishaps, there is quite probably something wrong in the update. Now we have the second official confirmation that this was the case: first they said they would look into ctds, now they say that they have found several causes for them. No doubt that some users will still have ctds after the patch and some more of them will be caused by hw, settings, addons and so on A.
