This one is mostly the airport itself. The other one is the city landmarks, in general .

The creator of the "Welcome to Kabul" package wrote in a comment to this one that he would remove OAKB from his package so they'd be compatible. The airport in this one looks much more detailed, whereas the other one was more focused on the city.

This thread is about an add-on to the simulator, not anyone's thoughts or feelings about what's going on in that neck of the woods IRL.  Please, let's keep it that way.

Does this work with that first release of Kabul OAKB that included many other ICAO airports, or does that need to be removed.

I've placed lights at OAKB: https://flightsim.to/file/9086/basic-airport-enhancement

Download the mod and then navigate to ICAO\MID ASIA\Afghanistan\Kabul OAKB

Ok, let's be calm. You take-off from Kabul and then you go... where?...

Current humanitarian transport is to Doha, Qatar, so that's where I did a flight... There is gonna be a new destination in Bahrain now too. That's another flight that makes sense.

But first a word from our sponsors...

Pyreegue has several sceneries in nearby Ukraine - Boryspil, Lviv and Odessa.

Flying over unfriendly airspace?  Let DCDesigns F-14 and F-15 aircraft fly CAP for you.

Just grap the DC-6 or any other GA aircraft and explore the surrounding or do some flights to the neighbor countries. Not everything has to be political. Afganistan has actually a beautiful landscape as all the other countries on that region. Last Comment is meant general not related to your post, edpatino.

I have checked this scenery and I like it.

Afghanistan, speaking purely geographically, is one of the most stunningly beautiful countries in the world. The satellite coverage in MSFS isn't perfect, but the parts that are good are very good.

Well, the first trick is to get out of there.  The 10Z weather for OAKB today was 35 deg C at 5877 ft elevation...a density altitude of 9350 ft on the field, with towering cumulogranite in all quadrants requiring pretty hefty climb gradients.  Before the C-130J showed up in significant numbers, the H model C-130s were severely payload limited getting out of Kabul--they mostly back-hauled empty pallets and light personnel loads.  Take a heavily-loaded transport like a 747 into the air under those conditions and it gives you some feel for the challenges of operating out of there.  Then pull an engine...

Once you've cleared the mountains on departure, then there are all sorts of places one might go, some of which are challenges in their own right--Islamabad, Karachi, Muscat, Abu-Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, etc.

Well after the original kerfluffle about the welcome to Kabul,  I did load up the scenery and take a look, and the first thing that struck me was how pretty and picturesque the area was.

Later, speaking to others at a different venue, I was informed that there actually were some heavily forested areas in other parts of the country, something I probably never would have known otherwise.

Kind of reformed my long-term mental image of those areas as being nothing but dustbowls.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.
