Pyreegue has several sceneries in nearby Ukraine - Boryspil, Lviv and Odessa.

and they are excellent sceneries if I may add. Own those three and they are very high quality. Big +recommendation for that developer.

Was the airport now removed from the first version? It seems to be gone but for the some reason the "Welcome to Kabul" file doesn't say it has been updated.

Cheers, Pete

Well, someone kindly created a video.

Bagram Airport, a detailed version, would be a payware I would be interested in having. Going to have to plan some flights to Kabul. When the PMDG 737 comes to MSFS there will be some military paints for use there. Going to see if there are any for the DC6.

Afghanistan, speaking purely geographically, is one of the most stunningly beautiful countries in the world. The satellite coverage in MSFS isn't perfect, but the parts that are good are very good.

I've spent years there, waking up to those ice capped mountains in the winters were breathtaking each and everyday!

Tried this via Doha - Kabul flight. Really well done but the RNAV MSFS shows does not work nearly as well in the real world 🙂

Not everything has to be political. Afganistan has actually a beautiful landscape as all the other countries on that region.

Well after the original kerfluffle about the welcome to Kabul,  I did load up the scenery and take a look, and the first thing that struck me was how pretty and picturesque the area was.

Later, speaking to others at a different venue, I was informed that there actually were some heavily forested areas in other parts of the country, something I probably never would have known otherwise.

Kind of reformed my long-term mental image of those areas as being nothing but dustbowls.

And this, for me, is what the sim is all about. Exploring and experiencing the planet. There's a lot of beauty and calm out there, in spite of all the humanity running around ****ing it up, and it is ok to go take a look. You may also note that you can't see the borders down there anyway.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Just grap the DC-6 or any other GA aircraft and explore the surrounding or do some flights to the neighbor countries. Not everything has to be political. I have checked this scenery and I like it.

I did the same, headed to the Panshir region, huge moutains to see ! You can also fly the pass to the small chinese Border, very interesting to compare with what's going on there.

Well, the first trick is to get out of there.  The 10Z weather for OAKB today was 35 deg C at 5877 ft elevation...a density altitude of 9350 ft on the field,

Which affect how difficult it is for a plane to get off the ground. Question is does MSFS simulate the temperature effect of this ? I have read in another forum that P3D does not do it. Taking off in Cessna at these temperatures is challenging in real life but not in P3D.

Should be pretty simple to set up a test scenario for this. I may try this weekend.

Currently circumnavigating the world in a mix of Cessna and Piper aircraft.

it's not the high temp that affects thrust and lift, it's the lower air density that results from that temp, and air density is a basic factor in thrust/lift equations.  Both P3D and MSFS pretty much have to take air density into account, although I suppose it's possible to have a garbage set of FDE parameters that distorts those effects.  Google the late Ron Freimuth's discussions of the topic for more.
