Bush-League Legends has done some great work on the Cub, so I will also try the NX. The only one that really interests me is the Porter. After it comes out I will decide if I will just stick with Asobo's version or if it is worth purchasing one of the pay ware offerings. While Asobo's airliners seem to be lacking -- I actually have not flown one even once, but at least I hear they are not so competent -- some of the GA aircraft are actually quite decent, especially with the mods available.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

Asobo should fix the default planes that I purchased with the Premium Deluxe version i.e. the 787 before doing any new ones. It is a pet peeve of mine and bothers me.

They should leave plane making to 3rd parties and focus on the core sim.

My humble opinion, of course.

Working title will be working on the 747 and 787 next year, and a third party worked on the PC-6 not Asobo. I don't know about the other planes.

I wonder if we have access to the flight_model and engines files

They're in the patch, not payware. So they more than likely won't be locked.

Straight to the F/A-18 for me.

It's so different from everything else they've made so far that I'm extremely curious to see how far they've taken it.

It might be a minor triumph and the start of a new phase, or a skin over a Cessna 152 with the top speed cranked up.

From the last Q&A stream:

Seb – The F18 is fairly realistic in the flight model. The maximum airspeed curve goes from mach 1 at sea level to mach 1.6 around 30,000 feet just like the real one. The fuel consumption and acceleration are correct. It has the holographic cockpit.

Regarding the F18 Hud David precise that we did some improvement on the engine allowing us to display the holographic cockpit. This is also accessible for third parties.

Ok, I'll bite. Not a fan of taildraggers, so I find the NX Cub an intriguing addition and worth a look with it's tricycle gear. The nose wheel is a little odd looking, but the plane might turn out to be a lot of fun to fly.

If not, the really good devs that are making the really good mods will have a much more difficult task.

I'm still waiting for a Waco YMF mod.

I'm really excited for the NX-Cub and the Porter. No interest in any of the others and will choose to keep them out of the game (use Content Manager to remove them).

I personally wish instead of an F-18 they had gone for something like a C-130 or C-17. Seeing as MSFS is a non-combat sim, its not like people can do missions in the Hornet with advanced weapons and fully functional weapon systems like in DCS.

Instead, a transport-type of military plane I feel will gel much better with MSFS as its pretty much airliner-style flying.

However - I appreciate many gamers will enjoy just blasting around in the Hornet at low level and I can see it being a huge hit in multiplayer so I do see both sides!

I have no interest in any 3rd party planes or airports for this game and likely never will. I find the default planes (and modded defaults from flightsim.to) just right. I fly mostly light GA props and bizzjets (CJ4 with WT mod is great). If I want a tubeliner experience theres there 320NEO mod but TBH I keep my tube flying to XP11 (Zibo).

But the visuals in MSFS are second to none and bush flying in the nosegear cub will be a fun compliment to the Caravan.

Coming to your question - if let loose on the ramp with the GOTY planes in a line - I'd go for the cub!

The NASA version of the F-18 has no rockets or missiles. The astronauts all seem to agree it is a very good cross country mode of transport. Those guys know about fast travel.

You are stuck with Carenado for that mod. Good luck with that.
No sane freeware mod team is going to get wrapped up in the possible legal tangles by touching a 3rd party payware plane.

I for one cannot wait to park my 208b for a few months,   and step into the cockpit of the new GOTY Porter.

That Porter is gonna be a workhorse in my NeoFly career.   Fairly certain that floats will make it the longest range float plane in the sim.
