I'm no expert in computers but I think it is difficult to write programs that run outside of the simulation. Consequently, they are more complex and require additional effort to configure and maintain.

I tried a trial version of an ATC add-on last week and sat through a 1 hour video explaining how to set it up only to see that the user interface looked like it was from Windows 95. When I tried to run it, I stated getting c++ runtime errors. I started getting flashbacks to Simulator Not Allowed so I deleted the add on.

I'll stick with Navigraph & FBW Airbus for the time being.

I’ve never understood how people find AIG hard to set up. I’ve used it for p3d and now for MSFS no issues.

It is a bit clunky for folks like me who have never used AIG at all.  I come from xplane.  However, I am concerned when AIG modifies files in the official folder.  This is going to cause a great deal of angst when SU7 arrives and overwrites things again.  This may force a reinstall of AIManager if your not aware.

See this from a prior thread:

"The default traffic file will need to be reenabled as well,  it is disabled with the AIG manager setup. It renames trafficAircraft.bgl to trafficAircraft.bgl.aigoff in the …\Official\OneStore\fs-base-ai-traffic\scenery\world\traffic folder To re-enable the default traffic, you remove .aigoff from the bgl file."

Hmmm... Checked the path mentioned above. I only have two files there, "fs10.AircraftTypes.csv" and "trafficBoats.bgl". Searched the entire Official folder tree, did not find a "trafficAircraft.bgl*.*" file anywhere.

This is a Steam installation.

It is there for me with a Windows Store install (but I also clicked "no" to the AIG Manager dialog, so the file / filename is unchanged).

I still don't have. Maybe I need to do the same!

I've asked our admins to take a look at the email verifications and see if something is going wrong there. Hopefully anyone still waiting will get approved very shortly. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Update:
Kai has checked the status and there are no outstanding issues.
However all outstanding requests have been manually activated now. Anyone who does not have a verification email I'm afraid the issue is going to be on your end - possibly in your spam folder or your email program and/or ISP are rejecting AIG emails at server level.

I also have a Steam install and I have that file. 3 files in the folder.

Got curious, so loaded up an image of my game drive from the day before I installed AIG (Macrium Reflect has an explore image function. Assigns a drive letter to the image and lets you peruse it just like any other drive. Anyway, I digress).

Yep, I did have that file prior to installing AIG. I guess I told AIG to turn off the built in traffic and it went thermonuclear on me. 😉 At least I know where to look if I have any issues on the 18th...

Good thing about the backup. But yikes nonetheless...

I'm not too worried. I've had the smaller taxi ribbon mod installed for several updates now. It replaces an official file. No issues noted, and the update didn't even replace the modified file. My guess is because that particular file was not being updated. If an update does update a modified file, my expectation is that it will just replace it with the newer file. If the next update has an update for the trafficaircraft.bgl file, my expectation is that it will just put the file back in place without complaining.

Of course, we all know that expectations sometimes do not match reality. But I'm a retired IT guy that's been playing with Microsoft products since the MS-DOS 2.x days, so not that big a deal for me.

Is this only commercial traffic (vs including GA)?

There's flight plans for both, but only airliner models have been converted to MSFS right now. From what I understand once all the airliners are done GA will be worked on.
