November 16, 20214 yr Has anyone checked KMEM - Memphis - for traffic using the new Aerosoft Simple Traffic? It has been reported the Gate assignments for KMEM in the Asosbo default scenery leaves much to be desired. Just wondering if Simple Traffic adds enough to this airport to make the purchase worthwhile. This is the main hub for Federal Express which creates a lot of real world traffic. The standard airline traffic at the main terminals should be nothing out of the ordinary. Not sure about the GA traffic, but, it would be nice to have an overall assessment of traffic using the AS Simple Traffic at this particular airport. Thanks. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
November 16, 20214 yr Nope, not a chance. Seeing those horrible default models in the product screenshots was enough to make me laugh out loud. I'm not going to fugly up my sim with that. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
November 16, 20214 yr I have payware scenery by LatinVFR for KMSY - New Orleans Intl airport. I purchased AS Simple Traffic less than an hour ago. Downloaded, let Aerosoft One install it, started up MSFS, set the Traffic sliders on the Options page to what the SImple Traffic user guide recommended. Went to KMSY and lo and behold I have beautiful airliners where I would expect them to be, and all apparently correct. Very realistic ground traffic - quite colorful. Amazing improvement over nothing before. Some of the planes are encroaching on the one at the next gate when they are moving about, but they seem to be organized and waiting there turn for takeoffs. I even have a C172 in the mix for takeoff. I am super pleased with my first encounter with Simple Traffic. When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

November 16, 20214 yr I moved over to KMEM - Memphis - to see how it looks with Simple Traffic. The airliners at the passenger gate look great - lots of 'em. The planes on the FedEx Cargo ramp are very sparse and they are ALL airliners - not a single Cargo plane. A closer look and I have 3 Fed Ex planes parked at passenger gates. duh. Ray When Pigs Fly . November 16, 20214 yr Bought it. Took a test flight. 1. The good - replaces the generic liveries with liveries that are closer to what you would expect at your respective (large) airport. - I'm seeing more offline ai traffic than before. Planes land and take-off.
November 16, 20214 yr 2. The not so good. (Probably not Aerosoft's fault): - AI traffic seems completely random, planes crash into you as you approach, planes buzzing the airport overhead, weird behavior on the taxiways, etc. - with aircraft density set to 35, I took a massive frame rate hit on approach. Conclusion: At the moment not recommend. It does add liveries, but - and again, not Aersosoft's fault - does not address the core issues that the sim still has with AI. It's probably best to wait until next year or so.
November 16, 20214 yr It seems to me we have two choices for real life AI liveries - Simple Traffic and AIG. One is free and one is payware. The main difference seems to be the free product has new quality aircraft models while the payware option utilizes the (terrible) default Asobo models. AIG does require a one time setup, which might take several hours if you are installing many flight plan/models. For me though, the choice seems obvious. If AIG was payware and ST was free, I would still be using AIG...

Don't forget the fact that there are no smaller planes using AIG. As a result, typical GA airfields are completely empty. May not be an issue for tubeliner pilots but for GA pilots like me. I didn't turn my ground traffic settings to 0 like many using AIG so I still have plenty of GA aircraft on the ground at smaller airports. I still see smaller GA aircraft in the air, though that is probably multiplayer traffic. Regardless, I am happy with the mix of aircraft I am seeing using AIG 😉 (and I am not a tubeliner guy most of the time)

I might try this, but AIG advises against a ground traffic setting different from 0 at their website as it might invoke issues. Taxiing and taking off from KSFO, the airport is indeed well-populated with resting and moving traffic but only airliners, and contrary to my previous "Live Traffic" setting without any addon the GA area is completely empty, at least that's what I saw. And I didn't observe any smaller planes taking off and landing either, but I may not have waited long enough, perhaps. I have Multiplayer off. November 16, 20214 yr It seems Simple Traffic will add 80+ files to the Community folder. That's a show stopper for me. Kind regards, Michael I understand why AIG advises against ground traffic different than zero - as there may be conflicts for gate/ramp positions between their aircraft and Asobo's. That's an issue I am willing to live with (and I really haven't noticed anyway). In addition, there is no reason you can't have Asobo's offline or real-time AI running alongside AIG traffic, although in this case I chose to shut them off.

I don't have it but I doubt it's 80 folders in the community folder, it's probably 80+ file in one folder. Maybe someone who owns it can clarify it. Edited November 16, 20214 yr by Tuskin38
