Aerosoft Simple Traffic is out

I don't have it but I doubt it's 80 folders in the community folder, it's probably 80+ file in one folder.

Maybe someone who owns it can clarify it.

Any traffic program is going to add a lot of files no doubt.  People aren't complaining of loading time issues though so it really shouldn't be an issue...

I understand why AIG advises against ground traffic different than zero - as there may be conflicts for gate/ramp positions between their aircraft and Asobo's.  That's an issue I am willing to live with (and I really haven't noticed anyway).

Thanks I'll give this a shot. I'd be glad if it worked.

Kind regards, Michael

It seems Simple Traffic will add 80+ files to the Community folder. That's a show stopper for me.

I installed it using AS One into one separate directory in my MSFS Addons folder of the Addon Linker. I activate/deactivate just this directory as needed, which works.

If activated, I get indeed 80 or so symbolic links, thus I'd suspect 80 directories in the Community folder indeed.

Kind regards, Michael

Did you just point the installer to your MSFS Addons folder? I don't remember I got the choice to do that.

I don't own the product, but I read that somewhere, so it's confirmed. That's too bad (at least for me it is).

The program barfs dozens and dozens of folders into the community folder.

Good Start and i would have gladly paid if they had the correct models but they don't .. so ill keep waiting. My take on this

Simple traffic needs proper models. Otherwise i would have pulled the trigger notwithstanding its issues that's not caused by them

AIG needs to sort out some aspects of their install process (Some may take umbrage at this since its freeware but everyone has an opinion.. This is mine.)

Above all Asobo needs to properly rework and fix the basics of the AI system. Hopefully they work with EITHER ONE of the solutions above in order to facilitate this.

I'm ok with forgoing the traffic for now but im sure eventually even i will get tired of seeing the default traffic and GA planes sitting at gates.

I bought Simple Traffic last night and used the Aerosoft One installer.  The installer gives you an image of all your drives and what capacity is available. It has you select you location for the program. I chose a 1 TB SSD that already had some Steam Library folders and files.  The installer created a folder family there with the top folder named Aerosoft One Library

with a sub folder named msfsSteam-unique names for my system then

a sub folder named gameDirectory~Community.

This gameDirectory~Community folder has a ton of folders, all statring with zzzz_FFAI_then unique names for aircraft models. The first one is the Asobo_A320_NEO with subfolders for SimObjects/Airplanes/aircraft.cfg.  This gameDirectory~Community folder also contains a small 7 page user manual with the settings required for Simple Traffic to work.

The entire installation is 2.18 GB (3,473 files, 1,434 folders) for my Steam setup.

Ray

Yes, you can point AS One do a different "Library" (which you can choose on a per-addon base). It's not quite obvious, but there is a link. I think you have to click the drive among those listed. Unfortunately I can't give you more detail right now without having something to install. AS says it's not suggested to do so upon that choice, but I've installed all my addons this way and never had an issue.

I have in installed under

M:\MSFS Addons\AI Simple Traffic\Aerosoft One Library

Hey Guys and Girls here is a snapshot of some important information taken from the 7 page AS-ST user manual:

ADDITIONAL MANDATORY SETTINGS

• To work as intended, Simple Traffic should be the only add-on with ‘generic’ AI twin-jet, quadjet,
and regional-jet planes, i.e. no other installed AI add-ons should contain the following
conflicting entry in their aircraft.cfg: icao_generic = 1
• The Simple Traffic add-on packages automatically override the stock Asobo A320, Asobo generic
twin-jet, and Asobo generic quad-jet aircraft.cfg files accordingly.
• As long as other AI add-ons do not contain an ‘icao_generic = 1’ entry in their aircraft.cfg files,
then they will work correctly alongside Simple Traffic, and their model and livery combinations
will override Simple Traffic accordingly.

LIMITATIONS
• The parking locations, taxi and flight paths are determined by the simulator, Simple Traffic has
no influence
• As Simple Traffic only uses the default AI traffic models it is very well possible that a livery is
displayed on an incorrect model. This is expected behavior.
• Any modeling issues, lights etc., are all part of the AI traffic system of the simulator and cannot
be changed by Simple Traffic
• When an airline code is inserted by Online AI traffic, the simulator will select the correct livery
according to the live traffic data received. If Simple Traffic does not yet include a livery for a
given airline, then a random livery will be selected instead. This expected behavior.
• If the ‘Ground Aircraft Density’ slider is set above 0, static ground aircraft will be generated with
random liveries. This is controlled by the sim and is expected behavior.

Just so you know.

Regards,

Ray

Nope, not a chance. Seeing those horrible default models in the product screenshots was enough to make me laugh out loud. I'm not going to fugly up my sim with that.

I've seen several people comment something to this effect, but weren't in fact your airports filled with those fugly models (and their fugly liveries) before AIG or any other AI traffic programs were available? I know mine were.

I'm just saying, for some people the simplicity of this product's install and just adding real-world liveries is enough. You and me may prefer something more, but don't knock people that want this product in their own thread.

Thank's, I just put the 85 files in new a folder at my Addon linker directory and link them, seems to work.

Wow...  I have no idea how many 100's or 1000's of files I have in my Community folder (I do use an add-on linker to enable/disable add-ons).  To me, that's what makes flight simulation (and MSFS in particular) fun.  The base sim is ok.  With add-ons, it takes on a whole new life and for me, that new life is insanely better than this sim in base form.  I still wont be purchasing Simple Traffic simply because I think the free AIG mod is better.  But the number of files/directory it adds to the Community folder is definitely not a factor.

Yep, it should. Not sure though, if AS One will handle Updates properly in this case.

For clarification ST creates it’s own sub folder called “community something or other” and dumps 85 files in it, or it dumps 85 files in MY community folder.

I ask because my community folder is empty, I I have every intention of keeping it that way.
