Aerosoft Simple Traffic is out

Just tried Offline traffic and it's ridiculous. 10 or more planes over the airport in all directions at 200 to 1000ft. Gonna stick to Online real time, much better.

Yes, and it is same issues with AIG, AI are in a complete mess at the moment.

Neither Real online or offline is realistic.  When in offline, planes are everywhere, buzzing the towers, etc.  A Brazialian airlines in Charlotte. No way.

In real online I only had three other planes at Charlotte (KCLT) which is not realistic either.

Of course 90% of the time I'm flying between the airports, so I'll just keep flying until they get it sorted out. They will eventually.

Yes, you get GA if you don't set Ground Aircraft Density to zero. But you will also get some random airliners that shouldn't be there. Can't have all for now. I'm using Online Real Time with Ground Aircraft Density set to 20 or 30. That way I get GA and don't get empty airports, but I also get some airlines that shouldn't be there.

And by using Online real time I don't get planes buzzing towers, approaching at 2000ft, landing in wrong runways, etc, like I do if I use offline traffic.

Yep, this is pretty much the approach I'm taking for now as well, albeit with ground density set a tad lower.  In my imaginary world, I can stomach the odd, out of place airliner livery.

Heck, when I was testing live traffic the other day, I saw an Air China flight come into Nashville (KBNA).  So I can just pretend it's one of those one-off airlines that visit sporadically. 😁

I just updated Simple Traffic using Aerosoft One app.

Hi !

I've a big loss of fps :

At Heathrow wIthout ST AIOffline, 100 % trafic  I get 35 fps. Same with ST : 12 fps

 What can I do ?

Thanks

I bough it last night and set it up as per the manual.

Did a flight from Corfu to Athens.

So ST AIOffline as per the manual. 3 Easyjets at Corfu a good start.

I thought I would use ATC for the first time in a long time.

It was good to hear ATC talking to real airline companys and it was also good to see traffic displayed within the CRJ. but....

What a nightmare ATC was, it was a constant stream of chat/orders, it was terriable. It made ATC INOP at there manual settings.

When I landed at Athens, the airport looked 90% full, good/bad. Also becasue of the huge amount of AI, I saw a huge FPS hit.

So I did some testing, at EGLL facing London in the CRJ. I dont know how some people do there testing but I could loss 40-50% of my FPS. With AS AI Ofline setting.

I just cannot be bothered to go through everything here, but with testing at EGLL and KJFK the best setting I found was AI ON line and ground aircraft set to 20%.

That gave no FPS hit, stoped ATC constant chat. Gave a good amount of Parked aircraft. I also perfure to see aircraft landing and looking "right" than seeing aircraft take of to have airlines flying around at 2000ft.

So the manual in the end was of little use.

Data, turn AI Traffic ON, then set AI to ON Line and 20% airport traffic (forgot name) The one the manual says set to 0 when using AI Offline.

Ive never had any sort of AI Traffic on as its horrible but now it looks OK to me. For a simple cheap way to make AI look far better. ST is OK and worth it to me.

This thing is a frame rate hog. With AI Traffic set to offline and aircraft density set to 30% I lose about 30% of frames.

ATC is close to unuseable because of the constant chatter.

I have ST and am reasonably pleased. Having to pay or install third party stuff to sort out Asobos inadequacies does stick in my throat slightly though.  At last I have aircraft that look vaguely correct for the region taking off and landing reliably at major airports. (Heathrow and Gatwick in my case. Slider set at about 20% to avoid frame rate hits). At last I'm queueing for take off and may have to do a go around on landing.

For aircraft buzzing the airport from all directions I hit the Esc button turn AI Offline to zero, save change and then set back to desired level, save again and then return to the flight.....it seems to work for me. It is far from perfect ( but it at least gives a passing impression of activity if viewed from 300yds. Although far from perfect it's well worth £15 IMO

For the "be perfect" types I guess it leaves a lot to be desired because of the models, AI logic and pirouettes etc.

Both AIG and Simple Traffic have done something fundamentally important though......they have both highlighted, underscored and emphasised the importance of AI traffic and how badly it has been implemented by Asobo. Lets hope the issue gets more attention from them. It needs to be higher on their list of priorities.

I’m not seeing any loss of FPS even at locations with dozens of AI. For those that do, keep lowering the traffic value. Given the low poly count of Asobo AI models, most systems should be able to handle moderate added traffic.

It's good enough for me until Asobo focuses on improving AI traffic.  Just took off out of Warsaw and saw appropriate airlines, just a few in gates here and there and traffic in the air was about what I would expect it would be.  I don't see any significant performance impact whatsoever so far.  I'm using Real Time Online.

Why are you using Offline? Use Online Real Time as we have been recommending and you have none of those problems.

I have tried both. Off line, I have traffic set to 25%, no FPS problems at all, and plenty of AI.

It would seem to me that an FPS loss would be much worse with the complex AIG AI. I see no FPS loss at all.

After I did a lot of testing that is just what I found. On line and ground aircraft set to 20%. ATC fine and no FPS loss.

Off line and the AS default setting are a joke, ATC just goes mental. When MSFS is doing no stop ATC 98%-99% of the time, that does not help FPS.
