I had stutters bad, low fps, couldn't use vr at all. This at least put my performance back to what i was getting pre update 7. Actually my flat screen runs very good now after up7. vr is a little weak but i have and older rig. 1080 ti

I was about to try this out and found that I have 2 copies of Flightsimulator.exe and both show a zero byte size.

I have Win 11 and this likely why they are zero sized, but 2 places? One is in the usual place the another is in a directory 2 levels 'up'.

Strange.

Same for me.  Zero change.

The store version does not contain Flightimulator.exe

I disabled full-screen optimization as suggested, and my performance did indeed improve noticeably. Thank you to those who suggested this tweak. While this does work for me, it is difficult to explain why, since my understanding is that MSFS full screen is actually running as a borderless window rather than a true full-screen display. But whatever works ...

You are correct that the store version does not contain "Flightimulator.exe". You might instead search for "Flightsimulator.exe".

That's why you're DISABLING full screen optimizations, since those don't apply to your borderless window--that is, perhaps sending FS optimizations to your GPU when there is no full screen format to receive 'fs optimized' data creates a slow-down.

Thank you for the insightful explanation. Everything does make sense now that you've explained it to me.

The Windows Store version is actually in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.21.13.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

But you need to take ownership of the WindowsApps directory first:
