OK, I did some more checking and now realize the file in question on my system is located in a unique place because I use the Addon Linker program and have defined a 'new' directory for my addons. This same pilot, Mark Brown, has more videos on YouTube covering other aspects of the Kodiak, such as some of the avionics. Very interesting indeed. I'd like to see more information and tutorials about this plane because there still are a few things that has me scratching my head. Now that I own it I want to know it inside out. I'd LOVE to do that e-course from the missionary pilot but it simply costs too much... Two more questions: - when I click on the sun visor it instantly moves into the next position, without any animation. I remember seeing a video in which it was animated and smoothly moved into the next position. Is something wrong with my sun visor? - one of the things that got me excited before purchasing this plane was the extensive checklist I saw in video's: one of the things that disappointed me was after purchasing it is that a lot of the items on it have a non-working eye-icon, so clicking on it does nothing, and there are quite a few items I have to set or check which apparently aren't simulated...? I understand the checklist was taken straight from the POH but I would like it if the devs would make it 'compatible' with the simulated airplane so that it only shows what you can actually do or check in the sim. That list makes the plane look like a deep simulation but as one of the devs already stated it's more or less a middle of the road simulation. I also see a few odd lines in the checklist as if something went wrong while typing the text (looks more like commands or something like that). - no matter what trim I set I am having a hard time getting the plane smoothly off the ground. (Rudder is no problem!) In the video's of the missionairy pilot I see him taking off within a very short range and smoothly too: I always seem to need a LOT of runway and I need to pull hard on the elevator in order to rotate and it usually has me jumping into the air too hard. It's like this no matter what the load is and what the trim setting is. I must be doing something wrong. 😉 As I said: I could do with a tutorial, specially for short STOL take offs. 😉 BTW As Bert already expected this plane is slowly growing on me and once I got past my first disappointment I am beginning to like it more and more. Which doesn't mean I think a lot of the video's about it are a bit hyped and too positive. It's not A2A-depth we are talking about here imho. But nevertheless the idea of asking for a refund (which probably would be useless anyway) are slowly leaving my mind. I will keep on flying this plane and read and view more about it and yes, in time this might become a worthy purchase indeed. 😉

The flight model the plane was released with had some errors in it which makes taking off much more twitchy than it should be. They released an update on Friday but depending on who you bought it from you may or may not have access to it yet. I'm still waiting lol.

Yes, I bought and installed the plane directly from SimWorks (and wonder why not everyone did this...!?!?) after they released the updated version (I waited for it) and so I do have the latest version!

I don't know because I never flew the pre-patch version. 😉 Another question! I mainly fly this plane as a bush plane moving cargo around places like PNG. Should I use the tundra tires in that case? (What does the missionairy pilot use?)
December 27, 20214 yr Good question about the tires....haven't really looked into the differences much yet. Someone on here may have I guess. As far as take offs go I have kind of adapted now. 50% right rudder and hold the nose down initially to stop it popping up too quick before I get enough velocity. Still a bit twitchy but manageable.

Yes from what I hear, trim down for take off instead of up. Thats what I've been doing and it seems to work well.
December 27, 20214 yr Kodiak Question....How to turn off the insturments view when flying with the outside view ?
December 27, 20214 yr An improvement yes, big one no, but I'd say it's just about right IMO. For me, they have ironed out, mostly, the rather twitchy yawing that was apparent during flight. All in all, I'm ecstatic about this bird! I'm assuming you mean the HU display that is shown in an exterior view? This is not pertinent to any particular aircraft but an option in MSFS itself. I switched it off ages ago, but I think it's in the assistance options page.
