Kodiak new Update Friday

The Kodiak has a number of differences in role to the Caravan mostly in capacity but if that won't be an issue, I don't think there are that many people who would disagree with saying the Kodiak is just better to fly in MSFS than that even the modded 208.

Yes, that fantasy trek is usually only 6 to 8 of us close souls plus baggage and gear (golf, scuba, etc.).  The 208 has been a bit overkill and I believe is just a bit more thirsty.  I do loosely track the influence of fuel expense, which for that reason has me primarily flying the RYTB in MSFS.  But cannot carry 8 and make that Caribbean trek in that Turbo Bonanza.

CHANGELOG FOR SWS KODIAK 1.0.4
>Reduced excessive propwash and P-Factor causing the plane to lose control at aft CG takeoffs
>Fixed tail wobbling beyond 30 kts
>Fixed floating stitches in Summit interior
>Fixed aircraft.cfg entries that precluded ATC from calling custom campaigns and tail numbers.

They should have added the dimming on the G1000 screens, that are working Ok now.

In that case I  can't think of a reason why I would choose to fly the C208 instead of the Kodiak, even without the latest hotfix .

I had a test flight after the update. It is less gnarly in high power / low airspeed configuration. Makes it easier to fly on the edges of the envelope.

Also, did they work on the click spots? They seem easier to hit. Or, maybe it's just placebo effect...

Well, I have given up the hope that JUST FLIGHT would come through and show off their customer care initiative.

Good night everyone. Happy new Year

FWIW, as of 1PM California time December 25, 2021 - JustFlight still has not updated the Kodiak.  😞

Yeah because it's Christmas Day.

So what? Would literally take someone at JF 10 minutes to remotely upload the new file to their servers. Its not as if someone would actually have to get in their car and go to work. Pretty crappy customer service if you ask me.

Assuming that you are not joking, your expectations are unrealistic.
A holiday is not a holiday if you are required to work during that holiday.

It's a holiday, let people enjoy their festivities. Wait a few days, and you'll get your hotfix.

So 10 minutes is going to ruin someone's Christmas? I had to go into work Christmas day here in Oz and it took a lot longer than 10 minutes. Distributing 3rd party addons is a pretty competitive business model......there are plenty of alternatives out there. In my book its just good business to keep your customers happy. I've already decided to get my future addons somewhere else so their laziness has already lost one customer.

The crux of the complaint is this. All the other outlets updated their servers on the 24th with one glaring exception. Of course folks are peeved. I wonder how many 'It's Christmas. let them have their holidays' people didn't buy from JF.

For my part, I'm happy enough with the Kodiak as it is, but ...

I just got my Xmas present in the form of the model.cfg changes from the 1.0.0 to 1.0.4 versions. This is from a respondent on the MSFS program forum today:

" I’ve ran a comparison of the “flight_model.cfg” between the two versions, and these are the differences. You would need to update all four versions of the Kodiak, but before doing so ensure you make a backup of the unedited files first. The original value is after the semi-colon:

side_force_slip_angle =-9.06011 ;-2.06011
yaw_moment_delta_rudder_propwash =0.03899 ; 0.3899
p_factor_on_yaw =4.799999 ; 8.799999

I made those changes accordingly and the Kodiak is much improved in STOL performance. 🙂
