I am having recent success with MSFS Default, but not all the time. I am using both Default and REX interchangeably. I use default now when it is working and true, and using REX when default is not working or is not true. I am not finding consistent success unless I handle it that way. The SDK really needs to be opened up to provide more choices, or more refined choices. Now though I would say MSFS 20% - Rex 80% for me. REX transitions used to bother me incredibly, but they are less of a concern now because its portrayal of the sky is so good. Maybe REX should be onboard like the other partners and fix default live weather? January 4, 20224 yr That first rex shot looks incredible, thats what a real sky looks like. The msfs sky looks more dramatic and cartoonish, not realistic. I just wish rex didnt have those awful transitions. Just happy I have one to fall back on when the other is not working. That said, the lack of full SDK is very likely responsible for any sudden transitions. I used REX over the weekend as a fallback for the first time since SU7 HF/beta. I did not experience any sudden transitions. REX WF did update the first time I started it over the weekend. That said, when the weather engine (REX in this case) is providing pressure, temps and winds aloft, consistent with real world reports (Fltplan Go app) but the MSFS ATIS is unrealistically reporting clear skies, 29.92 and 78 knot surface winds then there is a significant issue in either the core of the sim, or in the interface for weather data. Transitions have to be there because Rex don't have the weather SDK, but I was quite surprised how much better Rex is handling the transitions from the last time I looked. January 4, 20224 yr REX - I am having awful QNH spikes when climbing and descending between FL150 and FL390 resulting in short overspeeds and overall a messy experience. This is independent of the location/weather I am flying in (three different flights). Some of the transitions are anything but smooth.... Not happy with the product..... A hack with pretty user interface.... Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

Nobody wants a downgraded experience, but that's what we've had for a while now. If MS/Asobo fix the weather then I'll use it gladly. Like everything else, we all weigh up the variables and use what suits us best. I fly low and slow so have not been affected by any Rex issues, so that product suits me at the moment. If MS Live Weather suits you better then use it, you won't get criticism from me.
