I receive support all the time continually. I could not count them all. I don't give out my phone number. Because they do not ask for it. They do not ask for it because they do not want to chase away good customers. Discord is an exception, and therefore Discord out of my life.

You must really like PMDG, on their forum, where you have to post your real name.  😉

Not everyone practices safe internet. There aren't too many handicaps. One is that you couldn't post your phone number here in a forum message. Or anywhere else where it could end up pretty much ruining your financial life. Or worse. My real phone gets maybe one spam call a month. I don't care how much spam is on my throw away acquaintances but not friends phone.

I don’t think you should  need a phone number to participate in the FBW Discord channel either.

But to be fair, you are not a customer of FBW,  The FBW A320 s a free project.  They don’t make money off of you like PMDG and Fenix,  So they are free to make up whatever rules they want on their Discord server.  They don’t owe you anything, unlike PMDG or Fenix, who owe you some type of obligation after you purchase their product.

If when my time comes and I leave this lofty rock, should I be unfortunate enough to go "downstairs", then I imagine diablo himself will point to a PC and a chair, chain me in, and make me use Discord for eternity.

I loathe everything about it; the utterly indescribably awful UI, the fact I have to go to my emails and click a link every time I log in.   The lack of structure in most Discord pages (eg. a "General" page with 30 different conversations about different things going on at once).   The "invite" process, where page owners love to say "come to my discord for support", then you can't find it for love nor money, and discover you need an "Invite" that never seems to arrive........   I could go on, but I'm getting more depressed by the second.

It is an abomonation.  Perhaps the team speak stuff is of use.   Perhaps it's great for devs and a small crowd getting together.   But as a support catalyst it's worse than hell and makes absolutely no sense.   How is it any more "instananeous" than a forum?    The host is only going to reply if he's logged on at the time!!  (Same as a forum).  Sadly I fear it's an image thing, a brand more than anything else.   I guess it just sounds hip and right on to say "Why not hit us up on our Discord page".

The only thing that's right about it, is it's name.

Possibly but everything he said about Discord is essentially true….

Discord is an optional community area. Customer support is offered via the usual ticket system if you want to reach support directly.

There’s a load of apps on the Apple / Play Store that allow you to add a second number and receive text messages. Some allow a number for free.
