MS Store version- I too was able to boot the sim without an update warning.  I checked the MS Store and the update was available.  There are several smaller updates for former World Areas and I am currently downloading the Australia World Update (1.25 of 2.51GB). Fingers x'ed!

I think the map should like my second picture after you have gotten all the files.

I went to MS Store and it points me to X box for installation. I click on that . it opens Xbox app, and I see no way to update anything.

wow, every update, I appreciate my Steam version which has an easier song and dance to start an update.

I think they must put a trainee in charge of deciding how their updates are going to install. The actual update , once it starts seems to be running smoothly.

The WU content is not the same as ORBX payware. They will update any products that need updating quickly.

As usual, the update process is changed again from previous methods. It finally started working.

It has always been the same for me

you'll have to wait to see if ORBX needs to update them. Keep an eye on their forums.

Odd, my download gets to 95% then back to 50% once and again,...
