The utter pleasure of GA

Featured Replies

Simple GA is, for me anyway, what MSFS is the best with. Nothing any more complicated than an early morning flight, flown in real time with real weather (fingers crossed it works!) and just going from Point A to Point B (via points C, D, E, H, V, X and a quick stop for a sun hat somewhere in between). Love that.

Absolutely loving the uncomplicated SA Bulldog, Piaggio FW149 and Grob Tutor for these flights. All three of these aircraft are straightforward with (relatively) basic instrumentation and bounce and yaw around in the air like you'd expect from something of that size.

Which makes me wonder: what other simple GA gems are out there?

What's your favourite GA plane, and your favourite area to explore?

The Kodiak tops my list followed by the Seminole. Since MSFS I fly all over the world pretty much.

Carenado M20R Mooney Ovation. It might be replaced by the JF Arrow.

To improve further make sure to use the Google Map Replacement Tool.  Ground textures and colour shame Bing maps in many areas.

I just tried to load the tool and I received an X  (server) error.

I always return to the JF Turbo Arrow 3... but maybe it doesn’t qualify as simple in this context. It was my first payware and still worth every penny. The Arrow’s are made with so much dedication and feels just right for me.

For times where I have a bit less time on my hands, I usually go for the FI Spitfire Mk IX. That’s pretty basic and raw simplicity in my mind 😉 The sound of that enginge starting on a remote grass strip somewhere makes me smile every time.

Scandinavia and the southern part of UK are my go to areas... and more or less the same ‘tactics’ as you. Simple sightseeing trips with a few waypoints based on ‘I wonder what it looks like there’.

😂 That's exactly it!

Thanks for the C152 (mod) recommendation. I've had that since launch and it remains a favourite. I've always been fond of the real-world C152, so a good mod for it is fantastic.

Twin Otter and everywhere.

I fly JF Warrior and JP Logistics C152 a lot, and I fly all over the world and use "World Tour Flights" to download flight plans. https://worldtour.flights/

Flying everywhere, love it especially in mountains and along coasts.

This one is putting a big smile on my face at the moment -

Uninstall the default and replace it with this.

Flying it low and slow (and fast) everywhere from Southern England to Southwest USA.

Cessna 337. In the future I am anticipating flying the Staggerwing a good deal if it holds up from Carenado (fingers crossed). Preparing some background info now for an upcoming preview/review video on the Staggerwing. As for locations, I spend considerable time mapping out locations that look really good for VFR flights to showcase the scenery in MSFS. My last video from Marble Canyon to Grand Canyon National Park airport is a tough one to top.
