I'm curious what's wrong with VR in MSFS. I still fly P3D using VR (Quest 2) because I'm going to buy a new graphic card first and waiting for 737 to switch to MSFS. Reading some posts - VR support seems to be a mess in MSFS.

In a nutshell; Initially a very Rushed implementation, degradation in graphical quality since SU5, severe issues with Mouse/Controllers have taken too long to fix since SU7 and they're still not fully fixed now, Controllers still not working correctly (according to those that use them, I don't), no dedication from the Devs to work on VR (hence Jorg saying one thing then not following up this Q&A) after they initially never wanted to include support in the first place....and the big one, since VR was included there's been practically zero improvement (Controller support being the only one) since December 2020 and this after Jorg said last year that VR would get some love early 2022...

Other than that yes VR does work, it is good but it could be so much better if Asobo bothered to appreciate how great it could be. Instead they're ignoring the wish lists, doing very little to the bug lists and just creating more issues since SU7 where clearly they have not tested themselves thoroughly enough internally.

They have a team working on VR, after watching countless Q&As I've come to the conclusion Martial is just not good enough to lead them and that they need a proper dedicated team to take VR forward, he's also in charge of Multi Monitor support and look how long that's taking!

Overall Asobo are the Tottenham Hotspur of the software developer world, some decent players, some not so good, the team thinking they're bigger than they are and not really getting anyway.

In addition to what @Emerson67 wrote, you can just bookmark the official MSFS Twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/msfsofficial

Keep it bookmarked in your browser and when there is a Twitch Q&A, you can just go to this channel, click "Videos," and look for the Twitch Q&A video.  Twitch will always save the video of the live stream, as it streams.  So if you keep this bookmarked, you never have to ask where to find the video again.  You simply go to this bookmark, and then search under "Videos" for the last Twitch Q&A video.

I did do that, but when I searched for the first 3 times, after reading here at AVSIM you were watching it, there wasn't yet nothing there - only the older streams...

Thx anyway, and, btw, as I posted above, it was a nice Q&A with good / promissing info on what comming for weather and ground physics !

Btw, a couple of days after the Q&A, the video is usually reposted also on their youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/MicrosoftFlightSimulator/videos

There's nothing wrong basically, in my mind. I find me switching between 2D and 3D but more and more flying under the VR-headset.

My main issue are the washed-out colors on the Reverb (1) relative to the vivid colors on my (color-calibrated) screen. This is something which I think isn't performance-related and could be taken care of by the devs. Maybe future versions of the 3rd party OpenXR toolkit will resolve this. Plus, there's certainly room for better AA solutions.

Performance-wise I'm quite content. I certainly have a dated system but can still enjoy VR with fps in the 20s.

The general feeling is MS/Asobo doesn't devote much effort to VR. Initially, they were hesitant to support it at all, and if you look upon the VR Feedback Snapshot most items are just "TBD".

Kind regards, Michael

My Q&A question about that vacuum cleaner sound and the complete thread was deleted by a mod. He wrote me it was illegal because I referred to it from another thread which is against a rule (stating it's not allowed to promote Dev Q&A questions).

Kind regards, Michael

I have to correct myself: The mod just informed me that the Q&A topic itself was not removed, he just removed my reference to it from another thread, which I can live with. For honesty, I should mention this here.

I'll see if I can pinpoint the issue during the next days. I had a look on the AIG forum but no complaints there either so far.

Kind regards, Michael

well,

I'm a very happy Xbox Series X MFS user (fantastic tech, btw, & really good performance value),

for VR, I use a very good PC & Quest 2 (Strix OC 2080Ti),

so, Kevin, the answer to your question is +1 🙂

With VR it`s a case do you want them to through everything in getting MSFS in VR at the cost of any other development, even on steam VR is less than 4% of users. And i suspect the same with MSFS users.

They have a separate team working on VR though, I don't think anyone is asking for what you're suggesting, just some actual progress would be nice with the team they have.

I found the Reverb colors not as vibrant as Quest 2, but the headset was slighter and I think it used less overhead than the Quest 2, but I decided to stick with the Quest 2 due to the colors as you mentioned and am happy with it.

I personally think VR still has half a decade to go before its useable properly. I ain't saying its not good, just giving my opinion 🙂

Agree with this. I'm waiting for better technology. It's always evolving.

I like the idea of VR for the simulator, but I'd also need to drastically increase the specs of my PC to support it, and still probably at lower settings than I can run it now. So I'm holding on to my money.

That's a pretty good description of just about everything in MSFS, not being a VR user myself I don't see why it should get priority.... 😊

I'm not asking for priority, just the VR team to get a move on and actually do something 🙂
