April 7, 20224 yr APRIL 7TH, 2022 DEVELOPMENT UPDATE Posted by: Microsoft Flight Simulator Team Screenshot by shizhe85511526 (Twitter) We are one week into our public Sim Update 9 Beta testing and your feedback has already led to an improved build which came out this past Tuesday. We anticipate more updates during Beta testing and continue to work through your reports. A huge thank you to those who have taken the time to help us in this endeavor! Below, you will find a brand new version of our Feedback Snapshot. We are now taking a three-layers approach to how we gather your feedback as well as present back to you what we are working on. Those layers are: Active Development – This is a selection of some of the items we are currently working on. In it, we will reference different wishlist or bug item numbers that may be associated with it. Bugs and Wishes – Past 3 Months: These lists indicate which items have been created and voted on the most just within the last three months. While lifetime votes are important for the overall scope, we want to know what your current bugs/wishes are. Bugs and Wishes – Lifetime Votes: You will be the most familiar with this section as it details the highest voted bugs and wishlist items overall. We are always looking to improve how we communicate, and would love your feedback on this new process. Thank you! MSFS Team DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP The Development roadmap has been updated for Q2 2022. It already allowed us to investigate & fix several bugs. You can keep on reporting on DevSupport – please do not forget the “SU9” tag! DevMode: We fixed misleading warnings regarding invalid Marketplace images when building a package. We fixed cursor issues in cockpit and in DevMode. WASM: We fixed a crash when closing the simulator while a WASM module was being compiled. We improved the compilation times that were excessively long. SimConnect: We fixed potential crashes when accessing some SimVars (“EXIT POSX”, “EXIT POSY”, “EXIT POSZ”, “HSI BEARING”, “HSI BEARING VALID”). SIMCONNECT_STATE_OFF now disables event, and ClearNotificationGroup now removes events linked to its groupId. This requires further testing on our side and will not be integrated in Sim Update 9. COMMUNITY VIDEO Available today from the in-sim Marketplace from developer Wing42 is a highly-realistic new aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the Boeing 247D. Developed in 1933, this aircraft set the standard for a new generation of airliners. Features such as a retractable landing gear, cantilevered wings, and a top speed of over 190 miles per hour made the 247D a remarkable aircraft of great historic significance. The Wing42 Boeing 247D is the first aircraft in MSFS to fully implement a radio range navigation module that will have sim pilots “flying the beam”, giving an experience like no other. Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, described the Wing42 Boeing 247D as “an exemplary execution of a classic plane.” But you don’t need to take our word for it. YouTuber SimHangar Flight Simulation recently posted a review and tutorial video showcasing this exciting new plane and providing some important tips on how to fly it properly. April 7, 20224 yr Commercial Member Weather API started? Does this mean we’ll see working weather radars soon? Sounds good.
April 7, 20224 yr Nice. I like the new format for features in active development - provides a bit more color on what is actually planned vs. just listing the features. Looks like SU10 will be significant (e.g. DLSS, cloud layers, etc..) - but its odd that SU10 is not listed on the calendar. Normally it would be in June, following the "every other month" cadence. Maybe it'll roll out alongside the Top Gun launch - just as Reno launched alongside a sim update. Guess we'll find out soon.
April 7, 20224 yr Thank you, I much prefer the new 3 layer approach. Very excited for DLSS (I have a 4K monitor), so looking forward to that. Also very pleased to see memory allocation improvements when in DX12. I have an 8GB VRAM buffer (as I think do most people). Running DX12 has a higher VRAM usage which often causes stutters. Looking forward to SU10! 10900KF @ 5.2Ghz, 2070 Super, 32GB 3200Mhz, Gigabyte M28U 4K Monitor - MSFS: Terrain LOD: 200, Object LOD: 100

April 7, 20224 yr Interesting, DLSS nearly ready, but no mention of a release date for SU10 As far ahead as June…
April 7, 20224 yr SU10 is going to be very interesting indeed. I must say, I love MSFS development progress, it is always keeping us busy all time 😁 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display
April 7, 20224 yr Just now, Bdub22 said: How does DLSS benefit people using 4K monitors? Run at 2k upscaled to 4k giving more gpu headroom for better FPS providing you are not main thread limited. Im using the newly implemented RSR in the Amd driver, (similar concept) scaled from 3200x1800 to 4k, barely distinguishable from native 4k but allows me to pop instruments to second screen without crushing frames below 30fps.

I believe this is because they are working on DirectX 12 optimisation and features (including DLSS) on a separate branch, which they plan to merge with the main branch for Sim Update 10. In other words, a very similar situation to Sim Update 5. Hopefully they'll give it a nice and long beta period.
April 7, 20224 yr I llike the new approach, and speed they planning on implementing further enhancements to the sim. AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive
April 8, 20224 yr They used to do these weekly development updates on Friday, for almost 2 years now. As far as I know, there is no public holiday in the US or France on Friday. Why the change to issuing this development update on Thursday? Is this going to be a permanent change where we get the development update on Thursday going forward? Now gaze upon June where we see 'World Update X' A ha! This is surely the misdemeanour, my dear lanrivaldosmith! TL;DR - SU10 is coming in June
