The more I fly this airplane, the more I just absolutely love it.

The conversion of this 414a shows through as along with the winglets, the props have their distinctive "qtip" shape (no there was a prop strike as the props are "bent"). This acts like a "winglet" on the prop and they increase "interference drag" to disperse vortices off the prop. They also are "said" to make the props quieter. In truth, they probably do very little in that dept (at least in my baron they are not quieter...you can see them in my profile pic).

This is the first twin (that I know of and I own both Carenado twins) that you can properly shut down an engine.

Figured out the GPS AP issue as I just had to hit the CDI button on the GTN 750. The altitude button is still finicky from what I can tell. Running the fuel pumps on low during climb and cruise is fairly loud, and I haven't found a difference turning them off, so just do that. The fingerprint smudges on the glare-shield are quite noticeable and fairly annoying.

I have the Carenado Seneca, and definitely system depth isn't great.... but I can shut an engine down and it feels really good. I have actually shut an engine down IRL in a Seneca V, and I think Carenado nailed it. You can feel the difference when you feather, and I love that the prop rocks back and forth.

I just got email from FSW notified about new version of 414. Did anyone try it yet?

It's a newsletter "update" on status and not and update or patch (per the note at the bottom) but does say to expect a package update later this week.  Confusing use of the term "update".

Anyone else having difficulty starting both engines from a cold and dark state?

I put the fuel selector on one side or the other, turn on all the battery switches and alternators, plus the magnetos. I can can one started, but the other one won’t stay on, regardless of what I do with the throttle.

I have only done one startup sequence -- I recall having to try twice on the second engine, but it did finally catch and start.  I may have held down the starter and finessed the throttle lever for that engine.  I'll know more I'm sure, once I try it again.

Tonight I hope to do another flight.

They start for me ok - but I only use the TDS GTN xi panel.

I turn on anti colision light since the plane will be powered.  I turn on batt/alt....all the mags.  Make sure fuel selector on outer tanks.  I set mixture actually to mid range (I feel like normally with fuel injection you'd start them idle cut off - could be a sim-ism).  I crack the throttles.  I turn the pumps to LO.  I prime the left, and press starter.  It starts.  Then prime the right, and starter....it starts.  Then I turn everything else on.

I'm in love with this thing! It feels nice and heavy, the modeling is topnotch, the systems are pretty darn deep and the sounds are authentic! I can't wait to see how much the updates improve the experience. I think this might be my favorite sim GA airplane of all time!

Off the topic...there's no beacon light on this plane, is there?

On topic; I only see the fuel selector (between the seats) for left, right and off. Is there another one for selecting specific tanks?

Lastly, although I tried priming the engines, how long should the switch be held over?

Seems to be only strobes correct.

Well if you move your view over there's two sides of course one for L and for R engine....  so three positions per tank.  Just make sure your left tank isnt on OFF hehe.

For priming.,..I just hold it for 2 seconds or so then hit the starter.

UGH! I didn't move my eyepoint over far enough to the right. Just realized my left side was positioned to off.  ;o/

Heh.  That'll do it.

I actually set up a custom view aimed down between the seats, so that I can quickly view the fuel switches as I'm going thru the startup checklist.

I saw a video on youtube, apparently for realism the engines do not always start first time as in real life

Just received this email from FSW...

... regarding the incomplete sentences, poor use of grammar, and even spelling mistakes: Are they serious? I think they are trying to say that before you update you first will need to uninstall the older version, but what does that have to do with their website logs?

I dunno who approved that email but he should be horse-whipped, IMO.

"We have an update coming in about 1 day. You will get a similar email confirming there is an update. Once you get confirmation there is an update and the version number you log into the store and simply download again. Then run the uninstaller from windows add/remove products then install this way it ensures your cleared your installation logs on our server. If you get any error codes from our installer just email and we will help you solve the issue. "

You can figure what he's trying to say, but geez...the run on sentencing is a tad troubling there 🙂
